When a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita, how does one make form an object, etc.? This shows that when a Bodhisattva practices the Prajnaparamita, he should always practice in such a way that all dharmas are constantly non-existent and invisible, and not practice in what is visible and knowable. The question is, O Blessed One, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita, and form is also invisible, etc. If all dharmas are invisible, then after perfecting the six paramitas, entering the Bodhisattva ground, purifying the Buddha-field, maturing sentient beings, attaining all-knowingness, turning the wheel of Dharma, etc., how will the deeds of the Buddha be accomplished? The Blessed One replied: Subhuti, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not practice the Prajnaparamita for the sake of form, etc. Perfecting the six paramitas, etc., is only a worldly convention in the relative truth, but in the ultimate truth, there is no dharma to be accomplished. The question is, O Blessed One, why does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practice the Prajnaparamita? This is a question raised to distinguish the meaning of all dharmas being unmade and unmanifested. The Blessed One replied: A Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita because all dharmas are empty of inherent existence, so he practices and cannot practice, therefore he does not practice the Prajnaparamita for any purpose. Why? Because all dharmas are unmade, etc., which shows the reason for it. Unmade means not made by the maker. Unmanifested means not produced by the aggregation of causes and conditions. The question is, O Blessed One, if that is the case

If all dharmas are uncreated, that is, not manifestly created, then how are the Hearer Vehicle, the Solitary Buddha Vehicle, and the Great Vehicle, these three vehicles, to be understood? This is a question asked for the sake of differentiation when explaining that in the ultimate sense, the three vehicles are indivisible and cannot be established. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, for dharmas that are uncreated and not manifestly created, there is no object of establishment. And so on, this means that in the ultimate sense, all dharmas are empty of inherent existence. For that which is not manifestly created, the three vehicles cannot be divided or established. But in the conventional sense, for ignorant ordinary beings who lack learning, for those who have manifest creation and conceptual thought, the three vehicles can be divided and established. Why is that? Because, like this, ignorant ordinary beings who lack learning are attached to the aggregates, and so on, this is explaining the reason for that. Because ordinary beings conceptualize in an unreal way, they become attached to and arrogant about dharmas such as form, thinking: "After I attain complete perfect enlightenment, I will liberate beings from samsara." In order to guide these beings, it is only in the conventional sense that the three vehicles are differentiated and established. But in the ultimate sense, even the five eyes of the Tathagata do not see any dharma, because it is without object. The term "blind" refers to those who are blinded by ignorance. "Without eyes" refers to those who do not possess the five eyes. The question, "Blessed One, if it is like that, if even the five eyes of the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, do not see any being who is to be completely liberated from samsara," and so on, this is explaining that in the ultimate sense, beings are without object, but in the conventional sense, in order to turn beings who have become inverted away from inversion, the three aggregates are taught. Among them, "definite" refers to definitely practicing the roots of virtue that will accomplish unsurpassable perfect enlightenment. "Indefinite" refers to virtue.

It refers to what remains with the relatives of the deceased. Wrong view refers to those with wrong views who have severed the roots of virtue. The question, "Venerable Lord, has he entered the ultimate truth and manifestly and perfectly awakened into unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment?" and so on, is because in the ultimate truth there is neither abiding nor the act of becoming manifestly and perfectly awakened. In the ultimate truth, there is no Buddhahood. Since the conventional is inverted, one does not become manifestly and perfectly awakened by abiding in the conventional either. Abandoning these two extremes, the nature of which is inexpressible, each individually realizing all phenomena through self-awareness is what is meant by manifestly and perfectly awakened, as taught. To understand this meaning through an example, Subhuti, for example, the emanation of the Tathagata, and so on, is taught. The emanation of the Tathagata completely perfects the pure dharmas such as the six perfections, turns the wheel of Dharma, emanates many sentient beings, and divides them into three aggregates and teaches them. Similarly, the Tathagata perfects the accumulations, manifestly and perfectly awakens into unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, turns the wheel of Dharma, and divides sentient beings into three aggregates and teaches them. This teaching is not based on the existence of things in the ultimate truth, but is merely taught as illusion and emanation in the conventional, as taught. The question, "Venerable Lord, if all dharmas are like emanations, what difference or distinction is there between the Tathagata and an emanation? From what perspective do you consider this?" is asked in order to differentiate the occasion for explaining in detail that there is no difference between the Tathagata and an emanation in performing the deeds of the Buddhas, such as benefiting sentient beings in the conventional. Why is that? Subhuti, it is like this: the actions that the Tathagata performs, the emanation also performs. This refers to having perfected the six perfections and so on, manifestly and perfectly awakened into unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, turning the wheel of Dharma, and
