It means that one should practice Prajñāpāramitā until one abides in the essence of Bodhicitta. This refers to starting from the initial generation of the first Bodhicitta in the stage of aspiring faith, and practicing with effort and characteristics until the first bhūmi. After that, from the first bhūmi to the seventh bhūmi, one should manifest with effort and without characteristics. Furthermore, from the eighth bhūmi to the Buddha bhūmi, there is neither effort nor characteristics, and one should meditate on spontaneous accomplishment. This is what is to be explained. The question is, "Venerable Lord, how should I practice without interrupting the continuum of mind?" This means, how can we practice, manifest, and meditate from the initial generation of Bodhicitta until abiding in the essence of Bodhicitta without interruption of mind? This is the question being asked. "By not opening the opportunity for other mental activities," this means that it is explained that one should practice without distinguishing the opportunity for other mental activities that are not omniscient. To clarify this meaning, it is said that one should practice Prajñāpāramitā without abandoning the mental activity of omniscience. "In any case, one should practice in such a way that mind and mental factors do not arise," this means that it is explained that the method of practicing without opening the opportunity for other mental activities is to not allow the arising of conceptual thoughts of mind and mental factors, and to practice, manifest, and meditate on Prajñāpāramitā. The question is, "Venerable Lord, is it possible?" etc., which is asking whether one can attain omniscience by practicing, manifesting, and meditating on Prajñāpāramitā with effort and characteristics. The answer is, "It is not so," which means that one cannot attain omniscience by practicing, manifesting, and meditating on Prajñāpāramitā with effort and characteristics. "Then, is it because of not meditating?" This means, then, is it because of not practicing practice and manifestation

Having asked, "Will one attain omniscience?" The answer is, "It is not so." This means that without practice and without meditation, one will not attain omniscience. Then, what is it like? Is it meditating while meditating, and meditating while not meditating? This means that one cannot attain it by meditating in that way. If one cannot attain it without meditating either, then, having done both meditating and not meditating, will one attain it? The answer is, "It is not so." This means that because it would be like the two faults mentioned above, it is shown that it is not like that either. Then, what is it like? Is it because it is neither meditating nor not meditating? This means that, like what appears in the teachings of the naked ascetics, there is something that is neither of the two. Would one attain it in that way? The answer is, "It is not so." This means that it is not like that either. Then, how should one attain omniscience? This means that, like reality and so on, which are inexpressible and inconceivable, similarly, the occasion for showing that omniscience should also be meditated upon is distinguished by asking. The Blessed One said, "Reality is just as it is." And so on, this shows the method of how omniscience will be attained, namely, reality and the ultimate limit, and the realm of phenomena, which are inexpressible and inconceivable, and the self, sentient beings, life, and person, etc., which are conceived by non-Buddhists, are not objects of focus or establishment even in conventional truth. Similarly, all phenomena, such as the Perfection of Wisdom, are understood and meditated upon as not being objects of focus or establishment. Only then will one attain omniscience. Having asked, "Blessed One, what is it? Is the Perfection of Wisdom something that exists?" and so on, as explained above, reality and so on belong to the category of the realm of phenomena, and the self and so on, which are conceived by non-Buddhists, are not something that can be established. If one does not conceive of anything, then one will attain omniscience. So, all the phenomena from the Perfection of Wisdom up to omniscience are also
