If dedicating, that is a wrong dedication. It is not a correct dedication. From "the eighteen unmixed qualities of the Buddha will not be perfected" to "in this way, all dharmas are empty of inherent existence, and although there are no objects, one focuses on them as if they exist, and if one dedicates in the manner of characteristics, it is a wrong dedication, therefore the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, do not praise it, and such a dedication that is not praised will not perfect the six perfections and so on, the eighteen unmixed qualities of the Buddha, up to the purified dharmas, because it does not perfect one's own benefit, it is like eating poisonous food," this is what is taught. From "by what will the perfection of generosity not be perfected?" to "why is that? Because that kind of dedication is poisonous," if the six perfections and so on, the eighteen unmixed qualities of the Buddha, are not perfected, then one cannot purify the Buddha-field, nor can one ripen sentient beings, this is showing the fault of not perfecting the benefit of others. Furthermore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita, from "I should also dedicate to the unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment with that Dharma-nature" to "one should thus contemplate," the pure dedication, just as the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, know, and dedicate with the Dharma-nature of skillful means, so too, I should realize that all dharmas are empty of inherent existence in the ultimate truth, without object and without characteristics, and in the conventional truth, I should not be attached to it, and if I dedicate the root of virtue, it will become a dedication endowed with the Dharma-nature of skillful means, this is what is taught. Then, the Bhagavat spoke to the venerable Subhuti, from "Subhuti, you are doing the act of teaching" to "Subhuti, you are doing the act of teaching," it is in this way that the root of virtue is perfected.

The dedication that is faultless and completely pure, Subhuti praises the dedication explained above by dedicating in a manner that is without characteristics and without focus, saying that it is excellent. Mentioning words such as without characteristics, without focus, and without arising are merely synonyms for emptiness. Subhuti, suppose all the sentient beings in this three-thousand great thousand world system were to attain the path of the ten virtuous actions, up to saying 'unsurpassed,' saying 'unequaled,' among the sentient beings in the three-thousand great thousand world system, all of them attain the path of the ten virtuous actions, the four dhyanas, the four immeasurables, the four formless absorptions, and the five supernormal cognitions, with the merit of that, also possessing the roots of virtue with rejoicing, without being tainted or stained by the faults of having focus and having characteristics, making it common with all sentient beings, dedicating this completely to the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, showing that the merit is especially superior and vast, excellent, chief, and supreme are synonyms for especially superior and vast. Subhuti, furthermore, in this three-thousand great thousand world system, however many sentient beings there are, all of them attain stream-entry, up to saying 'unsurpassed,' saying 'unequaled,' in the three-thousand great thousand world system, however many sentient beings there are, all of them attain stream-entry, once-returner, non-returner, and arhatship, to them with robes, food, bedding, and medicine, with such provisions, performing service and respect, with the merit of that, also possessing the roots of virtue with rejoicing, without being tainted or stained by the faults of grasping at characteristics, making it common with all sentient beings, dedicating this completely to the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, showing that the merit is especially superior and vast. Subhuti, furthermore, the three-thousand great thousand world system

From "However many sentient beings there are in the world, all of them become Pratyekabuddhas," up to "unsurpassed" and "unequaled," it refers to however many sentient beings there are in the three-thousand-great-thousand world system, all of whom become Pratyekabuddhas, and the merit accumulated by offering and respecting them with clothes, food, bedding, and medical supplies, and rejoicing in these merits, not being attached to or stained by the fault of clinging to the characteristics of the roots of virtue, but sharing them with all sentient beings, and dedicating them entirely to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, this shows the particularly excellent and great merit. Furthermore, Subhuti, however many sentient beings there are in the three-thousand-great-thousand world system, all of whom have entered into unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, from "entered" up to "those sons or daughters of good family are also those who have signs," it refers to however many sentient beings there are in the three-thousand-great-thousand world system, all of whom have entered into unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, and for those who have entered, in the ten directions, in lands as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, however many sentient beings there are, all of whom for eons as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, with clothes, food, bedding, medical supplies, and many other items, the merit accumulated by offering and respecting them, and rejoicing in these merits, not being attached to or stained by the fault of clinging to the characteristics of the roots of virtue, but sharing them with all sentient beings, and then dedicating them entirely to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, this shows that the merit is even more excellent and great than the previous merit. Among them, "entered into unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment" refers to Bodhisattvas up to the attainment of the first bhumi. Then, from "For the four great kings, there are twenty thousand sons of gods of the lineage of the four great kings" up to "Bhagavan, that is how a Bodhisattva Mahasattva understands the Prajnaparamita."
