The term "does not change" means that, ultimately, all phenomena are empty of inherent existence, and there is no arising or abiding. Why is that? Because, in this way, what does it manifestly arise for? Such a phenomenon of abiding, nothing whatsoever is truly seen. This is to clearly show that meaning with reasoning. If there were some entity, then manifestly arising or abiding would be possible, but ultimately, all phenomena are empty of inherent existence, therefore there is no manifestly arising or abiding, therefore it does not change to abide in anything, that is the meaning. Subhuti, in that way, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva engages in the Prajnaparamita in a manner without manifest arising and without abiding, that is to say, in this way, as explained above, engaging without manifest arising and without abiding in any phenomenon, that is engaging in the Prajnaparamita, this is what is to be shown. Furthermore, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva thinks, "Whatever engages in that way, cultivates in that way, that is engaging in the Prajnaparamita," up to "is far removed from omniscience," this is to say, in this way, when engaging without manifest arising in anything and without abiding in anything, if even a mere thought arises, "I engage and cultivate in that way," it does not accord with the meaning of the Prajnaparamita, therefore it is separated from and far removed from all pure phenomena such as the Prajnaparamita. Why is that? Because the Prajnaparamita does not manifestly arise for anything, because there is no manifest arising in the Prajnaparamita. This is to say that, ultimately, all phenomena are empty of inherent existence, therefore the Prajnaparamita is also emptiness, so it neither manifestly arises for others nor is it to be manifestly arisen by others. Why is that? Because, in this way, it does not have such a nature that it could manifestly arise. This is to say that the Prajnaparamita arises

And it shows the reason why there is no nature of both attachment and what is to be attached to. Subhuti, even if a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva has an attachment to the Perfection of Wisdom, that Bodhisattva-Mahasattva will fall away from the Perfection of Wisdom. Whoever falls away from the Perfection of Wisdom will fall away from all dharmas. From "Subhuti, furthermore, since the Tathagata does not cling to any dharma, how could there be the realization of Bodhi for some dharma? That is not possible," if one generates attachment to the Perfection of Wisdom and so on and clings to it as real, one will fall away from the Perfection of Wisdom, and it shows the fault of not attaining the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Enlightenment. Then, from "The venerable Subhuti said this to the Blessed One" to "Why is that? Because the Perfection of Wisdom is spoken of as non-attachment," it shows the method of not generating the fault of attachment and clinging to all dharmas as real. Subhuti asked, "Blessed One, is the Perfection of Wisdom not separate from the Perfection of Wisdom?" to "How should one realize all aspects of knowledge?" All pure dharmas, such as the Perfection of Wisdom, are separate from the nature of those dharmas. If the nature is one, I cannot realize myself. For example, just as the blade of a sword cannot cut the sword itself. He asked, "How should one realize those?" and emphasized this question. The Blessed One said, "Subhuti, in this, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he does not generate attachment to 'form' or 'this is form,' 'this is form,' and so on." To "He does not generate attachment to 'all-aspects of knowledge' or 'this is all-aspects of knowledge,' 'this is so-and-so's all-aspects of knowledge,' and so on."
