The phrase "making sentient beings fully mature" indicates that one has realized that all phenomena are empty of their own nature in the ultimate sense, and in the conventional sense, one abides in the samadhi of the three doors of liberation with skillful means, thus demonstrating the skillful means of making sentient beings fully mature. This is the forty-second chapter of the Extensive Explanation of the Hundred Thousand Prajnaparamita. Chapter Forty-three: The Chapter on Skillful Means of Purifying the Buddha-field. Then, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said to the venerable Subhuti, and so forth, which is from the occasion of the above-mentioned abiding in the emptiness of all phenomena by their own nature, and the skillful means of making sentient beings fully mature through the three samadhis of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. In order to distinguish the occasion of teaching the profound Dharma, Shariputra asked Subhuti about his doubts. The venerable Subhuti, any Bodhisattva Mahasattva, if they enter into the three samadhis of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness in a dream, will they increase through the Prajnaparamita? This is asking Subhuti in order to distinguish the occasion of showing that all phenomena are like dreams. Subhuti said: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, if it increases by meditating during the day, then it should also increase without meditating in a dream. This means that in the ultimate sense, all phenomena are empty of inherent existence. When one is not asleep, even if one meditates on the three samadhis, the Bodhisattva's accumulation of merit and wisdom will not increase, so how could it increase in a dream? By the power of meditating on the three samadhis, the teaching of making sentient beings fully mature, etc., is only showing it to be like a dream in the conventional sense, but in the ultimate sense, it does not exist. Why is that? Venerable Sharadvatiputra, there is no distinction between dream and day. This is showing the reason why all phenomena are like dreams. In the ultimate sense, there is no difference between what is done when one is not asleep and what is done in a dream, as both are unreal, so there is no distinction.

It is shown that it is not the matter of that place. Sharadvati's son, the venerable one, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom during the day, if he meditates on that Perfection of Wisdom, then the Bodhisattva Mahasattva will also meditate on the Perfection of Wisdom in a dream, which is to clearly show the meaning that all dharmas are like dreams as mentioned above. Just as meditating on the Perfection of Wisdom in a dream will increase the accumulation of merit and wisdom. When not asleep, meditating on the Perfection of Wisdom will not truly increase the accumulation of merit and wisdom, that is the meaning. It is said that the venerable Subhuti, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does an action in a dream, will that action increase or decrease? This is if being awake and dreaming are the same, then they are also the same in conventional truth. If one does good or bad deeds in a dream, will doing good deeds increase the accumulation of merit, etc., and doing bad deeds decrease merit? Shariputra asked Subhuti. If the Blessed One said that all dharmas are like dreams, then will it increase or decrease? Subhuti relied on the aspect of ultimate truth, and the Blessed One also said that all dharmas are like dreams and have no substance, so doing good or bad deeds in a dream will not increase good or decrease good, this is to show this. Why is that? Because the dharmas of dreams do not increase or decrease, this is to show the reason why doing good or bad deeds in a dream does not increase good or decrease good. The dharmas of dreams have no substance, and without substance, there will be no increase or decrease, that is the meaning. If one awakens and discriminates, will it increase or decrease? The son of Shati relied on the truth of conventional truth, and the good and bad deeds done in dreams, Remembering them when waking up, then rejoicing and discriminating
