Ah, who is the one who reverts from the ground of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha? Subhuti, it is the Bodhisattva who reverts, who is called a non-reverting Bodhisattva. It means that the Bodhisattva who has obtained the acceptance of non-arising dharmas, and who returns from the ground of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, is also called a non-reverting Bodhisattva because he reverts from the ground of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Because he does not revert from the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Enlightenment, he is also called a non-reverting Bodhisattva. Subhuti, which Bodhisattva does not revert from the ground of Hearers or Solitary Buddhas? Subhuti, it is the non-reverting Bodhisattva, who is called reverting. It means that for the Bodhisattva who does not revert from the ground of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, it can also be established as non-reverting, but they will revert from the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Enlightenment, so they are not included in the non-reverting. Subhuti, with those aspects, those ways, those characteristics, up to the point where the evil Mara cannot turn away from the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Enlightenment, it refers to the fact that, as mentioned above, the Bodhisattva who returns from the ground of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, and does not revert from the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Enlightenment, cannot be deceived by the evil Mara, nor can he be turned away from the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Enlightenment. Subhuti, furthermore, the non-reverting Bodhisattva Mahasattva, if he wishes, can enter the first dhyana. Up to the point where, if he wishes, he can specifically contemplate and fully grasp the body, and with body and speech do things that benefit sentient beings, like this fully grasping the body, it refers to the fact that the Bodhisattva has skillful means and wisdom, and in order to be fully familiar and accustomed to all dharmas, the four dhyanas, the four immeasurables, the four formless absorptions, the cessation absorption, and the aspects of enlightenment.

Furthermore, if a Bodhisattva abides in the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, enters into the three doors of liberation, and manifests the five supernormal cognitions, but for the sake of sentient beings, he mixes with and becomes accustomed to them, unlike the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, he does not regard these as the ultimate fruit, but manifests various forms to tame sentient beings, then, through these signs and marks, it should be known that this is a non-regressing Bodhisattva. Subhuti, furthermore, from "a non-regressing Bodhisattva-Mahasattva possesses the thought of Bodhi" to "enters with mindfulness, sleeps with mindfulness," it explains that a Bodhisattva with skillful means and wisdom, with the thought of unsurpassed Bodhi, and possessing the signs and marks of a Bodhisattva, practices all pure Dharmas such as the six perfections, but does not cling to these signs, nor is attached to them, then, through these signs and marks, it should be known that this is a non-regressing Bodhisattva. "Not indulging" means that although one practices with a complete form and signs, because one realizes that these have no substance in the ultimate sense, one does not cling to these signs, nor practice with attachment, that is its meaning. Subhuti, furthermore, if a non-regressing Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, even if living at home, skillfully uses the five desirable qualities to ripen sentient beings, from "enjoys the five desirable qualities" to "also praises and rejoices those who practice the Prajnaparamita," it explains that some Bodhisattvas with skillful means and wisdom, in order to ripen sentient beings, live at home and enjoy the five desirable qualities, and freely give to sentient beings, and both oneself and others practice the six perfections, then, through these signs and marks, it should be known that this is a non-regressing Bodhisattva. Subhuti, a non-regressing Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, if living at home, fills the entire Jambudvipa with the seven precious things

From the section beginning with "completely giving fields" to "not fully enjoying desires, but constantly and continuously practicing celibacy. Not creating any harm that would displease others," it refers to some irreversible Bodhisattvas who, even while living at home, do not indulge in the five desirable qualities, but constantly practice celibacy. They completely fill the universe from Jambudvipa to the three thousand great thousand world systems with the seven precious substances, completely giving them away, and do not harm sentient beings. If they possess these signs and marks, it should be recognized that they are irreversible Bodhisattvas. Shariputra, furthermore, from "after the irreversible Bodhisattva Mahasattva" to "he becomes a noble person, not an evil person," it refers to the fact that for the irreversible Bodhisattva, due to the constant protection of Vajrapani Yaksha, humans and non-humans cannot harm them, gods and demons cannot defeat them, they do not turn back from the thought of unsurpassed Bodhi, their faculties do not become incomplete, and the benefits of becoming a noble person are shown. The request, "Bhagavan, to what extent" to "he becomes a noble person, not an evil person," refers to the previous statement by the Bhagavan that "one becomes a noble person." Shariputra asked to what extent one becomes a noble person, and the Bhagavan replied: if the mind of unsurpassed Bodhi does not diminish, it shows that one will become a noble person. Shariputra, furthermore, from "the irreversible Bodhisattva Mahasattva, possessing the thought of Bodhi" to "he does not truly see signs, therefore his livelihood is completely pure," it refers to not realizing through worldly mantras, medicines, and omens, and not seeking gain and respect by showing convincing signs. He does not live by causes, and if his livelihood is completely pure, then by these signs and marks, he is irreversible.
