From "speaking with songs and melodies" to "He shares the merit of this Dharma giving with all sentient beings and dedicates it to the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment," it means: For the benefit of all sentient beings, having mastered the twelve divisions of scripture, he explains them to sentient beings, and dedicates the merit of giving Dharma to himself and all sentient beings attaining unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. If so, one should recognize that he is a non-regressing Bodhisattva through these signs and characteristics. This is what is to be expressed. Subhuti, furthermore, a non-regressing Bodhisattva Mahasattva has no hesitation, no doubt, and no double-mindedness towards the profound Dharma. From "no double-mindedness" to "he does not even truly see the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment," it means: Because of realizing that all phenomena such as form are without substance in ultimate truth, he has no hesitation, doubt, or double-mindedness towards the profound Dharma. If so, one should know that he is a non-regresser. This is what is to be expressed. Subhuti, furthermore, a non-regressing Bodhisattva Mahasattva possesses gentle bodily actions, gentle speech actions, and gentle mental actions. It means: If the actions of the body are peaceful, the speech is gentle, and there is no harmful intention in the mind, one should know that he is a non-regresser. This is what is to be expressed. Subhuti, furthermore, a non-regressing Bodhisattva Mahasattva possesses loving bodily actions, loving speech actions, and loving mental actions. The characteristic of loving-kindness is to place all sentient beings in happiness. Whatever a Bodhisattva does with his body, whatever he speaks with his speech, and whatever he thinks with his mind, he only does it to place all sentient beings in happiness. If so, one should know that he is a non-regresser. This is what is to be expressed. Subhuti, furthermore, a non-regressing Bodhisattva Mahasattva, for example, attachment to desire, and the five obscurations of hatred, dullness, sleep, excitement, regret, and doubt

The phrase "not abiding in one place" indicates that if one does not possess these five obscurations that hinder the cultivation of the noble path, it is shown that one is irreversible. Drowsiness and sleep are counted as one obscuration, and agitation and regret are also counted as one obscuration. Subhuti, furthermore, for a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who is irreversible, all latent tendencies are completely absent, meaning that latent tendencies such as desire for sensual pleasures, desire for existence, anger, pride, ignorance, views, and doubt are absent at all times and in all ways. Among these, desire for sensual pleasures is the desire for the desire realm. Desire for existence is the desire for the form and formless realms. Anger is the hatred of the desire realm. Pride is of seven types. Ignorance is the lack of knowledge in all three realms. Views are of five types. Doubt is the wavering of mind when cultivating the noble path. If these latent tendencies are absent, one should recognize that one is an irreversible Bodhisattva, which is what is being shown. Subhuti, furthermore, the irreversible Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, from "walking and coming, but not walking with a mistaken mind" to "he walks while seeing the direction of the destination," indicates that if the four modes of conduct are practiced without error, and one possesses mindfulness and awareness, one is shown to be irreversible. Subhuti, furthermore, the irreversible Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, from "having faultless garments" to "being free from dust and dirt and having few illnesses," indicates that having good and very clean garments, a fragrant body, being free from dust and dirt on the body, and having few illnesses are also signs of an irreversible Bodhisattva. Subhuti, furthermore, from "in the bodies of those who have become humans, there are eighty thousand types of worms" to "completely maintaining a completely pure mind," indicates that many worms do not arise in the body, and that body, speech, and mind are completely pure, thereby showing the sign of irreversibility, that many worms do not arise in the body.

It is also like this. By means of the cause of possessing excellent roots of virtue, body, speech, and mind are completely purified, in order to make it surpass all worlds, that is the meaning. After saying this, from the venerable Subhuti asking the Blessed One in this way, until Subhuti, this Bodhisattva-Mahasattva's body, speech, and mind should also be known to be completely pure, it is to distinguish the brief description of the complete purification of body, speech, and mind above, so Subhuti asked, and the Blessed One taught that practicing the ten virtues, body, speech, and mind are completely pure. There are three kinds of good conduct of the body: not killing, not stealing, and not engaging in sexual misconduct. There are four kinds of good conduct of speech: not lying, not slandering, not speaking harsh words, and not engaging in frivolous talk. There are three kinds of good conduct of the mind: no greed, no malice, and no wrong views. If one possesses the complete purification of body, speech, and mind produced by the excellent roots of virtue, in order not to fall into the ground of Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, it should be known that this Bodhisattva is irreversible, as taught. Subhuti, furthermore, the irreversible Bodhisattva-Mahasattva does not take obtaining and respect, as well as verses, as important, until he also truly upholds and practices the twelve qualities of practice, that is, not being attached to obtaining and respect, as well as fame, being content with little desire, abiding in the twelve qualities of practice, and not being attached to those, not being arrogant about those qualities of practice, it should be known that he is irreversible, as taught. Subhuti, furthermore, the irreversible
