This is to show that because it is without substance, it is limitless. Kausika, if the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, were to abide for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges River, saying "sentient being, sentient being," Kausika, what do you think? Is there any sentient being born or ceasing therein? This is to show that the term "sentient being" is merely a conventional expression, and in reality, it does not truly exist. This was a question posed to Indra. The answer was: Venerable Subhuti, it is not so. Why is that? Because sentient beings are primordially pure. This is to show that, in terms of ultimate truth, sentient beings are empty of inherent existence. Whatever is empty of inherent existence is primordially pure, and therefore there is no arising or ceasing. Subhuti said: Kausika, therefore, in this way, because sentient beings are limitless, one should understand that the Prajnaparamita is also limitless. This is to say that because sentient beings are without substance, there are also no two extremes of birth and death. Therefore, because sentient beings are limitless, the Prajnaparamita is also limitless because it is without substance. This is to conclude and show the meaning of the Prajnaparamita being limitless. Then, "the gods with Indra, and the gods with Brahma," and so on, is because the profound meaning of the Prajnaparamita was explained, and the gods and humans, such as Indra and Brahma, who were present in the assembly of Dharma teaching, understood the meaning and words, and generated faith, or rather, through the power and blessing of the Tathagata, the profound Dharma spoken by Subhuti was well spoken! This is to show a special expression of praise. The term "special expression of praise" means being overjoyed and spontaneously, without being allowed by anyone, expressing words due to the force of joy and satisfaction. The term "for the sake of the Tathagata's appearance" is because having heard and understood the profound meaning of the Prajnaparamita, one becomes a Tathagata oneself. The term "explaining, speaking, and showing" means that explaining is a brief explanation, and speaking is a medium explanation.

The teachings are widely expounded. This Dharma is well spoken! Indeed, this Dharma is well spoken! This is said because this Sutra of the Perfection of Wisdom, the Dharma of the nature of words, is well spoken, so it is spoken twice with the force of joy. Indeed, the Dharmata of Dharma is well spoken! This is said to mean that the meaning of the Perfection of Wisdom, namely Suchness, is well spoken. O Bhagavan, I should regard the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who is inseparable from this Perfection of Wisdom as the Tathagata. This is because those Bodhisattvas who listen to, contemplate, and meditate on this profound and vast Perfection of Wisdom, and who do not separate from it through understanding its meaning with wisdom, will undoubtedly attain the state of the Tathagata, therefore the gods and humans, such as Indra, said so. No Dharma is attainable, from the aggregates of form or feeling, etc., to the existence of the three vehicles, is the explanation of the reason why the Venerable Subhuti well spoke this Dharma of the Perfection of Wisdom with the possession of skillful means and wisdom. Although one understands with wisdom that all Dharmas, from the aggregates of form, etc., up to the omniscience, are unattainable in the ultimate truth, but with skillful means, one combines the minds of sentient beings in the conventional truth and expounds the three vehicles, the gods, such as Indra, said that this is well spoken. Then, the Bhagavan said to the sons of the gods, including Indra: Sons of the gods, it is just so. Just as it is said, it is just so, from no Dharma is attainable, but the distinctions of the three vehicles also exist, in order to make all the retinue believe the words spoken by the gods, including Indra, the Bhagavan repeated those words and said: It is just so. Sons of the gods, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who does not separate from this Perfection of Wisdom in a way that does not grasp at subject and object

It is. The so-called "should be regarded as Tathagata" is to make all the retinue believe that the Buddhas previously said, "Any Bodhisattva Mahasattva who does not deviate from this Prajna Paramita should be regarded as Tathagata by us." The Blessed One repeated this statement and taught it. Why is this so? Because, the so-called "this Prajna Paramita extensively expounds the three vehicles" is to explain the reason why Bodhisattvas who do not deviate from Prajna Paramita should be regarded as Tathagatas. Because, if one does not deviate from this Prajna Paramita, one will surely become a Tathagata, so those Bodhisattvas should be regarded as Tathagatas. From "Tathagata cannot be seen outside of Dana Paramita" to "Tathagata cannot be seen outside of Sarvakarajnata," it refers to those Bodhisattvas who should be regarded as Tathagatas, who are actually the same as the six Paramitas, etc., up to Sarvakarajnata, those (merits) that are spoken of in the name of the Buddhadharma. Because they are of the same taste in nature, they cannot be found outside of those Buddhadharmas. Sons of gods, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas should study all these dharmas, they should study Dana Paramita, etc. Sons of gods, therefore, any Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices without deviating from this Prajna Paramita is called Tathagata. In between, it is to explain the above-mentioned reasons why Bodhisattvas who do not deviate from Prajna Paramita should be regarded as Tathagatas, and that Tathagatas cannot be seen outside of the Buddhadharma. Those Bodhisattvas from Dana Paramita, etc., up to Sarvakarajnata
