Chapter Seventeen, The Endless Demonstration. Chapter Seventeen, The Endless Demonstration. Thereafter, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, thought to himself: If the Venerable Subhuti thus rains down and demonstrates this rain of Dharma, then, in order to make offerings to this Perfection of Wisdom, I should conjure flowers and scatter them to the Buddha Bhagavan, the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, the Sangha of Bhikshus, and the Venerable Subhuti. I should scatter them! I should utterly scatter them! Thinking thus, etc., as previously mentioned in order, when the profound Dharma is explained through the manner of non-objectification, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, and the gods of the desire realm and form realm of this three-thousand great thousand world realm, having generated faith in this Perfection of Wisdom, in order to make offerings to this Perfection of Wisdom, it is shown that they thought of making offerings to the one who demonstrates and listens to this Perfection of Wisdom: I should scatter them! I should utterly scatter them! I should extremely scatter them! Saying this three times is to show that by the force of faith, the flowers are repeated three times and scattered. Thereafter, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, and the gods of the retinue of the Four Great Kings of the three-thousand great thousand world realm, etc., is to say that after the Lord of the Gods, Indra, and the gods of the desire realm and form realm have thus generated the thought, they conjured many divine Mandarava flowers and made offerings, which shows that after generating faith in the Perfection of Wisdom, they made offerings to the one who demonstrates and listens to the Perfection of Wisdom, and in order to induce beings of future times to generate offerings and reverence to the Perfection of Wisdom and to those who demonstrate and listen to it. As soon as those flowers were scattered, this three-thousand great thousand world realm was filled with flowers, and even in the space above, houses of flowers were piled up, and the entire three-thousand great thousand world realm was filled with splendor and joy.

That which is called "all abide in peace" means that the gods, having generated faith, offered emanated flowers. As a sign that they offered them without deceit in their hearts and with pure thoughts, the base of the three-thousand great-thousand world realm was filled with flowers. Above, in the open space, houses of flowers were piled up, becoming like the three-thousand great-thousand world realm. This was the blessing shown by the Bhagavan. What is being shown now is also a sign that making offerings to the Prajnaparamita, and to those who teach and listen to it, will not be in vain. Then, the venerable Subhuti thought to himself, and so on, which means that those flowers manifested by the gods were so vast, numerous, and beautiful that it was impossible for them to exist in the world. These flowers did not grow from gardens, nor did they grow from water and land, but were emanations, born from the mind. This shows that he thought in this way. Then, the lord of the gods, Indra, said to the venerable Subhuti: Venerable Subhuti, these flowers are not produced. These flowers are not born from the mind, nor are they born from gardens. This is because Subhuti had previously praised these flowers as beautiful and rare, considering them to be emanations, born from the mind. Indra combined this with the ultimate truth, showing that these flowers were not truly produced. Since they were not born from the mind, what need is there to mention that they were not born from gardens? Subhuti said: Kausika, you say that these flowers are not produced, that these flowers are not born from the mind, nor are they born from gardens. Kausika, in that way, if they are not produced, then they are not flowers either. This is because Indra showed from the perspective of the ultimate truth that these flowers were not produced, thereby emphasizing this point even more. If they are not produced in this way, then not produced means that there is no thing, so they are not flowers either. Indra said: Venerable Subhuti, are these flowers merely not produced temporarily? Or are even form, etc., not produced? And so on, which refers to all phenomena such as form, etc.
