That is the meaning. For the immeasurable and countless teachings of the Buddha, which are non-dual, if someone learns, then it is not for the sake of increasing or decreasing form that they learn. Like this, for the vast, immeasurable, and countless teachings of the Buddha, if someone learns without arising dualistic opposition, then they can realize that all phenomena are of one taste in emptiness, without distinction. Therefore, for phenomena such as form up to all-knowingness, it is also not for the sake of increasing white qualities and decreasing black qualities that one clings to reality and learns, this is what is to be explained. Therefore, from "whoever does not learn for the sake of increasing and decreasing form" onwards, up to "for phenomena such as form up to all-knowingness, one does not learn for the sake of completely taking and abandoning," whoever realizes that all phenomena have no increase or decrease, that is realizing that all phenomena have no taking and abandoning. Therefore, for phenomena such as form up to all-knowingness, it is not for the sake of taking the good and abandoning the bad that one learns, this is what is to be explained. After that, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said this to the venerable Subhuti: Venerable Subhuti, does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who learns in that way not learn for the sake of completely taking and abandoning form? etc., this is in order to explain in detail the reason for not learning for the sake of completely taking and abandoning, Shariputra asked Subhuti: Like that, for phenomena such as form up to all-knowingness, does one not learn for the sake of completely taking and abandoning? Subhuti replied: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who learns in that way does not learn for the sake of completely taking and abandoning form. etc., this is Subhuti saying to Shariputra: For phenomena such as form up to all-knowingness, one does not learn in that way for the sake of completely taking and abandoning.

Sapo. Said: Venerable Subhuti, why is it that a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva does not study for the sake of holding and eliminating form, etc., from the aggregate of form to the All-Knowing, for the sake of holding and eliminating, why does he not study in that way, the reason for not studying is asked. Subhuti said: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, it is like this, form is not completely grasped, because of the emptiness of inner and outer, form does not completely grasp form, etc., is the reason for not studying for the sake of completely grasping and eliminating, Subhuti said, form, etc., all the dharmas between the All-Knowing, in the ultimate truth, both inner and outer are empty of self-nature, there is no self-nature of what is grasped, and there is no self-nature of what is grasping, therefore, for the sake of completely holding and eliminating, he does not study in that way, this is shown. Venerable Sharadvatiputra, in that case, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva becomes All-Knowing by not grasping all dharmas, this is because all dharmas are empty of self-nature, realizing that there is nothing to be grasped and nothing to be held, the Bodhisattva who does not grasp any dharma with characteristics will attain All-Knowing, thus showing the benefit of non-grasping. Said: Venerable Subhuti, does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who studies in that way study the Prajnaparamita and become All-Knowing? This is because Subhuti said above that he becomes All-Knowing, showing the benefit of non-grasping, is it like that in order to lead the retinue into holding the Dharma? Shariputra asked. Subhuti said: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who studies in that way studies the Prajnaparamita and becomes All-Knowing by not grasping all dharmas, this is the Bodhisattva who studies in that way by Shariputra

In response to the question of how a Bodhisattva attains omniscience, it is pointed out that such learning will lead to omniscience, but not in a way that clings to characteristics. The venerable Subhuti, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who learns in this way, because of fully grasping all dharmas and having nothing to accept or reject, attain omniscience? This is a question of reason, how can the benefit of learning without acceptance or rejection of all dharmas lead to the attainment of omniscience? Subhuti replied: Venerable Saradvatiputra, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, not seeing the arising of form, not seeing the cessation of form, etc., this is to indicate the reason for attaining omniscience. Because all dharmas, such as form, are without substance in the ultimate sense. For that which is without substance, there is no arising or ceasing, no taking or discarding, no defilement or purification, etc., and no increase or decrease. Therefore, one does not regard arising and ceasing, etc., as real, nor does one cling to characteristics. Because one is not attached to anything, one will attain omniscience. Among them, not seeing the arising of form means that in the ultimate sense, form is without substance, therefore there is no arising. Not seeing cessation means that because there is no arising, there is no cessation. Not seeing taking means that in the ultimate sense, form is without substance, therefore there is nothing to take or obtain. Not seeing discarding means that because there is no taking, there is no discarding that is established by taking. Not seeing defilement means that because there is no discarding, there is no faulty entity, and there is no nature of defilement to be abandoned. Not seeing purification means that because there is no defilement, there is also no purification that is established by the opposite of defilement.
