Not abiding in the manner of focusing on phenomena indicates that not abiding is abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom. From "one should not abide in the manner of focusing on form" to "one should not abide in the manner of focusing on all-knowingness," this indicates that not abiding in the manner of focusing on the characteristics of phenomena such as form is abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom. The characteristics of phenomena such as form, the characteristic of form is that it is changeable and obstructive. The characteristic of feeling is the nature of experiencing pleasure and pain, and so on. Whatever the individual characteristics of phenomena are, they should be combined accordingly. From "one should not abide in the manner of focusing on form as permanent or impermanent," and so on, this indicates that not abiding in the manner of focusing on the nature of phenomena such as form is abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom. Not abiding in the manner of focusing on the nature of phenomena also belongs to the aspect of all-knowingness, belongs to the aspect of knowing the aspects of the path, and belongs to the aspect of all-knowingness, there are three. Among them, from "one should not abide in the manner of focusing on form as permanent or impermanent" to "one should not abide in the manner of focusing on the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha as the place of giving," this indicates that not abiding in the nature of phenomena belonging to the aspect of all-knowingness is taught. Belonging to the aspect of all-knowingness is also for the sake of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas to attain all-knowingness in the manner of the Lesser Vehicle. For phenomena such as form up to all-knowingness, with the nature of permanence and impermanence, pleasure and pain, self and non-self, lovely and unlovely, peaceful and unpeaceful, secluded and unsecluded, empty and not empty, having signs and not having signs, having aspirations and not having aspirations.

Thinking and abiding in a discriminating manner. When a Bodhisattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, it is taught that they should not abide in this way. Furthermore, Kausika, one should not abide by focusing on the unconditioned fruit of stream-entry, and so on, up to not abiding by focusing on the unconditioned Supreme Perfect Enlightenment. This also teaches that one should not abide in the Dharma of stream-entry and so forth. The nature of the Dharma of the fruit of stream-entry, the fruit of once-returner, the fruit of non-returner, Arhat, Pratyekabuddha, and Supreme Perfect Enlightenment is Nirvana.

Bodhisattvas gradually abide in the ten bhumis, perfect the six paramitas, perfect the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, enter the faultlessness of bodhisattvas, abide in the irreversible stage, perfect the five supernormal cognitions, and in order to attend and honor the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, listen to the Dharma, and teach the Dharma they have heard to others, they should go to immeasurable and countless Buddha-fields, and they should perfectly accomplish such Buddha-fields as those Buddhas, they should ripen sentient beings in enlightenment, and having gone to immeasurable and countless world realms, they should offer and serve the Tathagatas, Arhats, Samyaksambuddhas with flowers, garlands, and so on, and having placed immeasurable and countless sentient beings in the unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, and thus having obtained the knowledge of the aspects of the bodhisattva path, not abiding in the manner of focusing on them is abiding in the Prajnaparamita, thus it is taught. From "one should cultivate the five eyes" to "the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should perfectly accomplish the eighty minor marks on the body," not abiding in the manner of focusing on them, this is teaching that one should not abide in the conduct that belongs to the side of all-knowingness. The so-called all-knowingness refers to the wisdom that abides in the Buddha-ground. In order to obtain that wisdom, one cultivates the five eyes of the Tathagata, cultivates the samadhis, sports with the samadhis, cultivates the doors of dharani, and perfectly accomplishes the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love, great compassion, the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, the thirty-two major marks of a great person, and the eighty minor marks, and thus one obtains all-knowingness, thus thinking of them.
