Venerable Subhuti then said: "World Honored One, I should remember your kindness, and I should not fail to remember your kindness, etc." This was the World Honored One's response to Subhuti, praising him, "It is good that you thus explain the Perfection of Wisdom to the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas and generate faith." I say that explaining the Perfection of Wisdom to the Bodhisattvas in this way is like the Tathagatas of the past, when they were Bodhisattvas, were also taught and instructed in the six perfections by the Shravaka Arhats of the past, and those Bodhisattvas thus attained Anuttara-Samyak-Sambodhi. Similarly, if I also teach and instruct the Bodhisattvas in the six perfections, those Bodhisattvas will also learn in that order and attain Anuttara-Samyak-Sambodhi. In this way, if I teach, I will be acting in accordance with the noble Shravaka Arhats of the past, and by following the noble ones of the past, I will be remembering their kindness and repaying their kindness!" This is what is to be taught. Among them, instruction is: "Do not do evil, unwholesome deeds, etc., things that should not be done," this is the initial instruction. Following instruction is: "Do these virtuous deeds!" This is guiding them to do good. Making them happy is: For those who do not understand the goal of diligent practice, by explaining the goal of practice and meditation, making them happy. Correctly encouraging is: When beginning meditation and practice, because they have not obtained the scriptures and oral instructions well, they become confused and meditate incorrectly, connecting them from not being confused and meditating correctly. Praising well is: For those who are not diligent in practice and meditation due to faults such as laziness, generating joy and making them begin to be diligent. Making them very happy is: For those who practice well and meditate correctly and truly, praising them by saying "very good!" thereby generating joy and happiness in meditation. Establishing, etc., means that the ultimate result of practicing and meditating in this way is to become a noble one.

is placed on the path. The so-called "extremely stable" means that the fruit of cultivating the path is obtained, and one remains firmly in it. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to Indra, the lord of the gods: "Kauśika, therefore, listen very carefully and keep it in mind. How should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abide in the Prajnaparamita, and how should he not abide in it? I will explain." and so on. Previously, Indra, the lord of the gods, asked Subhuti: "How should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abide in the Prajnaparamita?" In response, Subhuti explained in detail how a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should abide in the Prajnaparamita. Kauśika, form is empty of form, etc., refers to the fact that from the five aggregates such as form to the omniscient wisdom, all phenomena in the world and beyond, which are spoken of by name, are in reality empty of their own nature. A Bodhisattva who realizes emptiness in this way is also in reality empty of the nature of a Bodhisattva. The emptiness of phenomena such as form, and the emptiness of a Bodhisattva, are of one taste in emptiness, without difference, so one does not grasp them as two, nor can one grasp them as two. To realize and abide in this is what it means for a Bodhisattva Mahasattva to abide in the Prajnaparamita, which is what is to be explained. Then, Indra, the lord of the gods, said to the venerable Subhuti: "Venerable Subhuti, how should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abide in the Prajnaparamita?" Subhuti replied: "Kauśika, here, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita, he should not abide in form in a clinging manner." etc., this is to explain how to abide in the Prajnaparamita by completely abandoning the way of not abiding. The way of not abiding also refers to everything from form etc. up to omniscient wisdom.
