This is to show that there is no confidence to speak about the ultimate truth. The son of the venerable Sharadvatiputra, regarding the unborn dharmas, there is no arising, and I have no confidence to speak about it. This is what Shariputra asked, and the following is the answer: Form and other unborn dharmas, saying that they are unborn, is only to express the meaning in conventional terms, so it is just talking, but in the ultimate truth, there is no confidence to speak about it. What is the reason for this? Venerable Sharadvatiputra, like this, what is the unborn dharma? What is unborn? What is confidence? What is speaking? What is the unborn dharma? All these are neither corresponding nor non-corresponding, colorless, invisible, unobstructed, like this, no characteristic is the only characteristic. This is to explain the reason for not having confidence to speak about the unborn dharma: Form and other dharmas are called unborn, and the nature of unborn dharma, the speech without confidence, all these are only nominally established in conventional terms, but in the ultimate truth, because they are not real things. The meaning of corresponding and non-corresponding, etc., is as mentioned above. What is said, the venerable Subhuti, speaking is unborn, confidence is also unborn, and dharma is also unborn, from what does the dharma of confidence begin to be spoken, are those dharmas also unborn? This is the dharma of speaking, confidence, birth, and non-birth, and from form and other dharmas, the dharma that becomes confident by speaking, those are neither corresponding nor non-corresponding, colorless, invisible, unobstructed, if measured in this way, then are those also unborn? This is what Shariputra asked. Subhuti said: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, that is exactly so, speaking is unborn, etc., this is to explain that those mentioned by the name of dharma, such as speaking, are unborn in the ultimate truth. What is the reason for this? Venerable Sharadvatiputra, that is exactly so.

Just like this, saying that form is unborn, feeling is unborn, and so on, these expressions and eloquence, etc., are not only unborn in the ultimate sense, but also all forms, etc., up to the point of all-knowingness, all phenomena of the world and beyond are also unborn, thus it is explained. Venerable Sharadvatiputra, therefore, speech is unborn, eloquence is also unborn, and phenomena are also unborn, and those phenomena from which speech and eloquence arise are also unborn, this is a summary explanation of the meaning explained above. Like this, all forms, etc., up to the point of all-knowingness, all those phenomena are unborn in the ultimate sense, and speech, etc., also belong to those phenomena, therefore, these speech, etc., are also unborn in the ultimate sense, thus it is explained. The Blessed One said, Venerable Subhuti is the most excellent among the speakers of Dharma, why is that? Like this, Venerable Subhuti, whatever is asked, can answer without hindrance, this is Shariputra's praise of Subhuti, whatever meaning of all phenomena being unborn, etc., is asked, he can answer without hesitation, therefore, among the noble Shravaka Dharma speakers, Subhuti, you are the most excellent, that is the meaning. Subhuti said: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, this is the Dharma nature of the Blessed One's Shravakas who do not abide in all phenomena, whatever is asked of them, they can answer without hindrance, this is what Subhuti said in order to introduce the meaning of non-abiding in all phenomena that will appear below. The Dharma nature of the Blessed One's Shravakas who do not abide in all phenomena, this refers to the noble Shravaka Arhats, who, by the blessing of the Blessed One, realize that all phenomena are empty of inherent nature, therefore they do not abide in any of those phenomena, and are not attached, this is their nature, thus it is explained. Why is that? Like this, because all phenomena do not abide, this is the Blessed One's

This is to show the reason why the Shravakas do not abide in all dharmas: Because all dharmas of the world and beyond are ultimately empty of nature, so they do not abide in either the inside or the outside, so it is also shown that those noble Shravakas do not abide in all dharmas. It is said: Venerable Subhuti, how does everything not abide? This is because Shariputra asked Subhuti in order to ask for a detailed explanation of the reason why all dharmas such as form do not abide. Subhuti said: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, form is empty of nature, so it does not abide in the inside, nor does it abide in the outside, nor does it abide in the absence of both. This is to say that because form is ultimately without nature, it does not abide in the inner senses, nor does it abide in the outer objects, and because there is no other thing besides the inner and outer, it does not abide in that either. Just as with form, all aspects such as feeling should be connected up to omniscience. Venerable Sharadvatiputra, therefore, all dharmas do not abide because of their emptiness of nature. This is to summarize and show the meaning of what was said above: all dharmas of the world and beyond do not abide in either the inside or the outside because of their emptiness of nature. Venerable Sharadvatiputra, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the six perfections, thus form
