Because of completely realizing the equality of all dharmas, there is no distinction between self and others, and no perception of difference. The statement "these six dharmas should be completely abandoned" refers to the bodhisattva abiding on the fifth ground. If they completely abandon these six dharmas, they have truly entered the Mahayana. Furthermore, the statement "eighteen dharmas should be completely abandoned" refers to the bodhisattva abiding on the fifth ground. Not only should they abandon those six dharmas, but they should also abandon the ten non-virtuous paths of action, as well as the eighteen dharmas such as excessive pride. The statement "in this way, the ten non-virtuous paths of action should be completely abandoned" refers to the bodily actions of killing, taking what is not given, and sexual misconduct, as well as the verbal actions of lying, divisive speech, harsh speech, and idle chatter, and the mental actions of wrong view, harmful intent, and covetousness. If these ten dharmas are practiced, even the attainment of a good rebirth will be obstructed, let alone the attainment of the noble path and unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Therefore, even the imprints of the ten non-virtuous actions should be completely abandoned. The term "excessive pride" refers to the fact that one does not regard any qualities that give rise to pride, such as noble birth and extensive learning, as truly existing. Therefore, one does not generate the prideful thought that "I am superior to others because of such qualities." This is the complete abandonment of excessive pride. The term "arrogance" refers to the arising of arrogance due to a mind that despises other sentient beings. Because one does not fixate on such objects of contempt as truly existing, one completely abandons arrogance. The term "inverted views" refers to the fact that all dharmas are empty in nature, but one clings to them as truly existing. This is the inverted view of a bodhisattva. Not clinging to all dharmas as truly existing is the complete abandonment of inverted views. The term "doubt" refers to not having any dualistic thoughts about suchness and unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. The decline of attachment, hatred, and delusion.

The so-called "not abandoning the place" refers to the fact that one cannot truly see any object that causes attachment, hatred, and ignorance, as well as desire, hatred, and ignorance themselves. Therefore, one should not let them decline. These eighteen dharmas are what a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abiding in the fifth ground should completely abandon. It means that if a Bodhisattva abiding in the fifth ground completely abandons these eighteen dharmas that would become faults, then he has truly entered the Mahayana. Subhuti, furthermore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abiding in the sixth ground should perfect the six dharmas. This is to explain that a Bodhisattva abiding in the sixth ground should perfect the six paramitas and should abandon the six dharmas. Like this, the so-called "six paramitas" means that if one perfects the six paramitas, one will reach the ultimate in understanding all knowable things. Therefore, one should perfect the six paramitas. Furthermore, the so-called "should abandon the six dharmas" means that a Bodhisattva abiding in the sixth ground should not only perfect the six paramitas, but also abandon the six dharmas that would become faults of a Bodhisattva. These will also naturally disappear. Subhuti, furthermore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abiding in the seventh ground should not do twenty dharmas, etc. This is to explain what a Bodhisattva abiding in the seventh ground should not do, and the dharmas that should be perfected. Among them, it is said that "one should not cling to self, life, or person." This is because the views of self held by non-Buddhists have already been abandoned in the first ground, so this is not to abandon those. Rather, it is because the Bodhisattva of the seventh ground abides in the absence of characteristics, so even in worldly speech, one should not cling to the characteristics of views of self, etc. One should not cling to annihilationism and eternalism, because one understands that all dharmas are without arising or ceasing. One should not have the perception of characteristics.
