Eleventh, the Chapter on Renunciation. Eleventh, the Chapter on Renunciation. Thus, in response to Subhuti's question to the Blessed One, "What is the Great Vehicle?" The Blessed One revealed twenty-one aspects of the Great Vehicle. Following that, to explain the meaning of the question, "How does one truly enter the Great Vehicle?" the Blessed One said, "Subhuti, if you were to say, 'How does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva truly enter the Great Vehicle?'" and so on. Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the six perfections and progresses from ground to ground. This means that for each of the ten Bodhisattva grounds, they perfect the six perfections and progress from higher to higher grounds, which is said to be the true entry into the Great Vehicle. For example, since all phenomena are without change, no phenomenon comes or goes, nor is there any change or near change. Thus, the progression from ground to ground is merely a conventional teaching. However, in ultimate truth, all phenomena are of one taste in equality, and since the Bodhisattva who progresses through the grounds and the Bodhisattva who causes the progression are not found, there is no progression, going, or change from ground to ground. Coming, going, changing, and near changing are synonyms for progressing and going. However, they do not take pride or conceive of what all phenomena are. Thus, in ultimate truth, all phenomena are of one taste in equality, and since there is no change, there is no pride or clinging to characteristics due to the state of progressing and changing. However, it is not that they do not purify the grounds, which means that in conventional truth, it is not that they do not attain the qualities of the ten Bodhisattva grounds or do not eliminate the faults of opposing factors. However, they do not truly see that ground. Thus, with skillful means, although they purify the grounds in conventional truth, in ultimate truth, they do not view that ground as real. What is the purification of the grounds of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva? Subhuti, a Bodhisattva abiding on the first ground
