O. What is the Samadhi without characteristics? When one realizes that all dharmas are without characteristics, the mind remains in that state, which is called the gate of liberation without characteristics. Thus, with the Samadhi of emptiness and so on, one does not grasp the imputed dharmas as characteristics, and does not discriminate. This is called the Samadhi without characteristics. What is the Samadhi without aspiration? When one realizes that all dharmas are without manifestation, when one does not manifest anything, the mind remains in that state, which is called the gate of liberation without aspiration. Thus, realizing that all dharmas are empty of their own nature and without characteristics, one is not attached to anything and does not aspire. In order to be born in the three realms in the next life and to obtain the happiness of the three realms, one does not manifest the actions and afflictions that cause birth in the three realms, and one meditates on remaining in a single-pointed mind. This is called the Samadhi without aspiration. Furthermore, Subhuti, the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is like this, that is, the eleven wisdoms, etc., which is to show that the eleven wisdoms are the Great Vehicle. What is knowing suffering? Knowing that suffering does not arise, that is, knowing that the five aggregates of grasping are the nature of suffering, and that there is no birth in the ultimate sense. What is knowing the origin? Knowing the abandonment of the origin, that is, knowing that the cause of the accumulation of the aggregates of suffering, actions and afflictions, etc., are without self-nature, and therefore knowing that they will not arise in the future, this is called knowing the abandonment of the origin. What is knowing cessation? Knowing the cessation of suffering, that is, knowing that when Nirvana is attained, all the sufferings of Samsara are cut off. What is knowing the path? Knowing the eightfold noble path, that is, knowing that the eightfold noble path, which is the cause of seeing cessation, is without substance in the ultimate sense. In the conventional sense, it is known to be the cause and path of attaining Nirvana. What is knowing exhaustion? Knowing the exhaustion of desire, hatred, and ignorance, that is, the Shravaka

Having heard up to the attainment of the Arhat level and the eighth Bodhisattva level, one knows that afflictions such as desire are exhausted. Among them, what is knowing non-arising? Knowing that the continuum of existence does not arise is called the noble Arhat, and those who dwell above the eighth Bodhisattva level, having exhausted their afflictions in this way, know that they will not take future existence due to the power of afflictions. Among them, what is knowing the Dharma? Fully realizing and knowing that the five aggregates are like illusions is called the time of directly realizing liberation, when the Dharmas such as the five aggregates are not truly existent, but appear like illusions, etc., thus directly realizing and knowing. Among them, what is subsequent realization of knowledge? From "What is subsequent realization of knowledge" to "knowing that old age and death are impermanent" is the teaching of subsequent realization of knowledge. With subsequent inference of knowledge, the twelve sense bases such as the eye, the eighteen realms, the six realms such as the earth realm, and the twelve links of dependent origination such as ignorance, are known without conceptualization, which is called subsequent realization of knowledge. Among them, what is conventional knowledge? Knowing with the mind of another sentient being is called other knowledge, although it is also conventional knowledge, but in the ultimate sense, it can also be known without an object of focus. Therefore, from the respective objects of focus, there are other names such as knowing suffering. Knowing the minds of others means focusing on what other sentient beings are thinking and knowing whether they have desire or not, etc., focusing only on the nature of complete imputation, hence it is called conventional knowledge. Among them, what is familiar knowledge? Knowing the path by what, and knowing complete purification, is called the Bodhisattva meditating on the noble path, and when meditating on dhyana and samadhi, etc., they do not meditate for the sake of directly realizing nirvana like the Shravakas, but for the sake of benefiting sentient beings, they meditate and practice in order to become familiar with the Dharmas and completely purify them, which is called familiar knowledge. What is knowing according to the words? The form of the Tathagata
