The so-called "earth" refers to the state of being disgusted and unattached to the nature of form, which is color and shape, due to consciousness, thereby generating a longing like the sky, which is called being separated from the consciousness of form. The so-called "all obstructive consciousnesses disappear" means that having separated from the consciousness of form in this way, and being accustomed to meditation like the sky, the obstacles and obscurations such as mountains and walls disappear. The so-called "not attending to various consciousnesses" means that having separated from the consciousness of form in this way, one does not generate attention to various things such as food and drink, as well as young people, clothes, and ornaments. The so-called "space is infinite" means to be close to and abide in the sphere of infinite space. It means that having separated from all consciousness of form in this way, one should become accustomed to longing for the sky, and abide in meditating on the consciousness that "space is also infinite." The so-called "completely transcending all the sphere of infinite space, being close to and abiding in the sphere of infinite consciousness" refers to refuting the view that the consciousness of meditating on infinite space is also based on coarse objects, and explaining that all of this is only consciousness, and abiding in and meditating on the consciousness that "consciousness is also infinite." The so-called "completely transcending all the sphere of infinite consciousness, being close to and abiding in the sphere of nothingness" means that having become accustomed to the sphere of infinite consciousness in this way, one realizes that there is no other colored or formless object other than consciousness, thereby abandoning the consciousness that "consciousness is also infinite," and merely abiding in and meditating on the consciousness that "there is nothing at all." The so-called "completely transcending all the sphere of nothingness, being close to and abiding in the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception in a non-apprehending manner" means that the consciousness of thinking "there is nothing at all" is also considered a coarse consciousness,

Having dispelled, After that. Because such coarse consciousness is not fixated upon, it is called unconsciousness. It is not like the cessation attainment where all consciousness is completely blocked, but because subtle, signless consciousness arises, it is called neither unconscious nor non-unconscious. It means to meditate and abide in such samadhi. The phrase "in a non-fixated manner" means that such samadhi is only meditated upon in order to tame the mind in the conventional sense, but it is not like the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas who fixate on these samadhis as real. Although the phrase "in a non-fixated manner" is not mentioned in the preceding samadhis, it should be applied to all of them because it is mentioned at the end of all of them. The following, "This is the meditation of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva," etc., is to assist in the complete accomplishment of the Perfection of Generosity, summarizing and showing the meditation on the four dhyanas, the four immeasurables, and the four formless absorptions in a non-fixated manner. Just as the sky has no characteristics, such as color and shape, so too, one does not grasp at the ultimate characteristics, ways, and signs of these dhyanas, immeasurables, and formless absorptions, but abides equally. When arising from samadhi, one abides in the conventional truth, and the root of virtue of meditating on dhyana, immeasurables, and samadhi is also made common with all sentient beings, and that very dedication to omniscience is the union of skillful means and wisdom, and because the three spheres are completely pure, it is the complete Perfection of Generosity, as it is taught. Beginning with "He practices the Perfection of Morality," and ending with "This is the Perfection of Wisdom of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Venerable Sharadvatiputra, thus it is a Bodhisattva Mahasattva."

Up to "this is called truly entering the Great Vehicle," while fully accomplishing the perfections of morality, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom, it is taught to cultivate meditation, the immeasurables, and the formless absorptions. The meaning of these is as explained in the context of the perfection of generosity. Furthermore, Sharadvatiputra, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, with a great mind endowed with loving-kindness, extremely vast, from what is called up to "this is the wisdom perfection of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Sharadvatiputra, this is the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practicing the wisdom perfection," while cultivating the four immeasurables, the four meditations, and the four formless absorptions, it is taught that fully cultivating the six perfections at the same time is truly entering the Great Vehicle, this is the second. Among them, Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, with a great mind endowed with loving-kindness, extremely vast, from what is called up to "this is the generosity perfection of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva," regarding meditation, the immeasurables, and the formless absorptions, I also cultivate myself, and also teach others about their nature and qualities, etc., which is the giving of Dharma, therefore, it is taught that while cultivating meditation, samadhi, and the formless absorptions, the perfection of generosity is fully accomplished. The meaning of meditation, the immeasurables, and the formless absorptions is as explained above. "This is the samadhi of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva" means that cultivating meditation, the immeasurables, and the formless absorptions in such a way, cultivating in a non-apprehending manner, that itself is the samadhi of the Bodhisattva, as it is taught. The Bodhisattva Mahasattva has the heart essence of the all-knowingness
