The emptiness of beginninglessness and endlessness means that for things like samsara, there is no identifiable place from which they originate, nor any place to which they ultimately go. The very beginninglessness and endlessness is empty by its own beginninglessness and endlessness. This is just an example. The emptiness of non-abandonment means that even at the time of non-abiding nirvana, there is nothing to abandon in order to ensure that virtue is inexhaustible. The very non-abandonment is empty by its own nature of non-abandonment. The emptiness of inherent existence means that the inherent existence of conditioned and unconditioned dharmas is not made by anyone, whether they are Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, Bodhisattvas, or Tathagatas; they are inherently empty. The emptiness of all dharmas, where "all dharmas" refers to the skandhas, dhatus, ayatanas, form, formlessness, conditioned, unconditioned, and so on. All these dharmas are empty by the very nature of all dharmas. The emptiness of self-characteristics means that the characteristic of form is to exist as form, the characteristic of feeling is to experience pleasure, pain, and neither pleasure nor pain, the characteristic of perception is to grasp at signs, the characteristic of consciousness is to know by distinguishing, the characteristic of the skandhas is suffering, the characteristic of the dhatus is like a swift poison, the characteristic of the ayatanas is the gate through which consciousness arises, and so on. All these self-characteristics of dharmas are empty by their own self-characteristics. The emptiness of non-apprehension means that the past is not apprehended, the future is not apprehended, and the present is not apprehended. This very non-apprehension is empty by its own nature of non-apprehension. The emptiness of non-entity means that since all dharmas are thus non-apprehensible, in order to dispel the thought that the nature of non-entity exists, that very non-entity is also empty by its own nature of non-entity. This is the meaning. The emptiness of intrinsic nature, where intrinsic nature refers to the intrinsic nature of self and the intrinsic nature of others, and other

That which is called "self-nature" is emptiness, which is the emptiness of the self-nature of oneself and others. That which is called "the emptiness of the self-nature of no-thingness" means that conditioned and unconditioned dharmas are no-things, and in order to dispel the arising of the discriminating thought that the self-nature of no-thingness exists, therefore, the self-nature of no-thingness is also not existent, but is emptiness, which is its synonym. Those who wish to abide in such emptiness should study the Prajnaparamita, and this should be applied to all things. These emptinesses, whose nature is ultimately one, but are divided into eighteen distinctions, are to dispel the clinging to characteristics in external and internal things, and because of the differences in the minds and mental activities of yogis, they are falsely imputed and thus explained as eighteen aspects. Wanting to understand "object, dominance, immediately preceding, and causal condition" means wanting to understand the four conditions, which is its synonym. For the four conditions for the arising of consciousness, the six objects such as form are the objective condition, the six faculties such as the eye faculty are the dominant condition, the immediately preceding of the past six consciousnesses is the immediately preceding condition, and the alaya consciousness is the causal condition, wanting to truly understand the nature of these conditions in conventional and ultimate truth is its synonym. That which is called "aspect and nature" means wanting to understand the ultimate and conventional aspects and natures of conditioned and unconditioned dharmas, this is its meaning. In "the suchness of all dharmas" and so on, although suchness has no difference, it is divided into three types because of the difference in its basis and entry. Among them, the three types of different entries are: the knowledge of the aspects of the path of Bodhisattvas, the knowledge of all aspects of the Buddhas, and the entry of the knowledge of all things of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Among them, the so-called suchness of all dharmas refers to the self-nature of the perfectly established nature of external and internal dharmas, such as form and sound.
