It is called abandoning all places of connection. Being skilled in completely pacifying all actions and afflictions means that for all those Bodhisattvas, they are skilled in the methods of abandoning all actions and afflictions of themselves and all sentient beings. Being skilled in the wisdom of thoroughly realizing the truth means being skilled in the methods of oneself and others realizing the four noble truths and the conventional and ultimate truths. Being constantly and continuously devoted to all phenomena as being like reflections means that for the Dharma of the scriptures, such as the twelve branches of scripture, which appear as the nature of sounds and words, one does not regard them as real, but realizes them as being like reflections. Being fearless in teaching the immeasurable aspects of the Dharma means that in this way, for the Dharma of the scriptures, although one does not regard them as real in the ultimate sense, in the conventional sense, one is skilled in various aspects of teaching the Dharma, such as the perfection of wisdom and the aspects of enlightenment. Therefore, one is fearless and unhesitant in distinguishing and teaching those Dharmas in any assembly. Being skilled in understanding one's own nature as it is means that through the cause of perfecting the perfection of wisdom, one teaches the qualities of being skilled in entering the realm of the wisdom of the Tathagatas. The realm of the wisdom of the Tathagatas is also of two types: understanding the ultimate nature as it is, and understanding the nature of all conventional phenomena as it is. Among these, understanding the ultimate nature as it is means that in the ultimate sense, all phenomena are merely suchness, transcending all objects of characteristics and concepts. Understanding one's own nature as it is in the conventional sense means the unsurpassed conduct of the Buddhas, the Bhagavad-Tathagatas, such as maturing sentient beings and purifying the Buddha-fields, which is the meaning of being skilled in truly realizing the realm of the wisdom of the Tathagatas as it is.

That which is called 'completely seizing beings with the aspiration of pure arrangement' indicates the qualities of accomplishment just as the aspiration was made in the past, through the cause of perfecting the perfection of aspiration. In the past, when bodhisattvas were dwelling on the lower grounds, they saw and heard the immeasurable and various ornaments and arrangements of Buddha-fields such as Sukhavati and Padmavati, and made the aspiration, 'Whenever I manifestly awaken, may my Buddha-field be like that Buddha-field, or even more excellent.' And in accordance with that aspiration, they exerted effort and perfected the conduct of a bodhisattva, and through that power, when they dwelt on the ten grounds, they possessed such a pure Buddha-field, hence it is called 'completely seizing beings with the aspiration of immeasurable arrangement in the Buddha-field.' That which is called 'constantly and continuously manifesting the samadhi of recollecting the Buddhas who dwell in countless worlds' indicates possessing the fruit of having perfected the perfection of meditation. Those bodhisattvas, through the power of having cultivated the samadhi of recollecting the Buddhas in the past, even when dwelling on the ten grounds, manifest all those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, who dwell in immeasurable and countless worlds, and they constantly dwell in the presence of those Buddhas, that is the meaning. That which is called 'skilled in approaching all places where Buddhas appear' indicates being skilled in going to all those worlds where Buddhas will appear, and making offerings and showing respect. That which is called 'skilled in requesting immeasurable Buddhas' means going to the presence of all those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, who dwell in immeasurable and countless worlds, and requesting them to turn the wheel of Dharma, and for those who wish to pass into complete nirvana, making requests in order to cause them to remain for a long time, that is the meaning. In order to pacify the afflictions that arise from the various views of sentient beings,

The so-called "wise one" refers to the fruit of having completely perfected the perfection of skillful means, being able to observe sentient beings' thoughts, habits, behaviors, inclinations, and different faculties, and accordingly teach them the Dharma and encourage them to practice diligently. Thus, with skillful means, they pacify the afflictions arising from various views. This is the meaning of the so-called "wise one." The so-called "proficient in manifesting and attaining hundreds of thousands of samadhis" refers to possessing the fruit of having completely perfected the cause of clairvoyance—samadhi. Because of having cultivated many kinds of samadhis in the past, they are able to play with various miraculous powers and benefit sentient beings in various ways. This is the meaning of the so-called "wise one." The so-called "possessing inexhaustible qualities, which cannot be exhausted even by praising them for countless eons" means that if one were to praise the qualities of those Bodhisattvas abiding on the ten bhumis, even if one praised them for countless eons, one could not exhaust their qualities. They are fully endowed with such qualities. This is a concluding description of the qualities of the Bodhisattvas. In this way, with "Bodhisattva Mahasattva Good Protector" and so on as examples, the Blessed One's retinue included countless Bodhisattvas, and even reciting all their names would be inexhaustible. Therefore, only a few of the main Bodhisattvas are mentioned. Why are the names of the Shravaka Sangha not mentioned, but only the names of the Bodhisattva retinue? Because Bodhisattvas have great power, are well-known in all world realms, and belong to the Bodhisattva vehicle, their names are specifically mentioned. Thus, by showing the Blessed One's perfect retinue, the beginning that is in accordance with all Sutras is revealed. In order to reveal the special beginning of expounding this Prajnaparamita, it is then said, "Then, at that time, the Blessed One himself arranged the lion throne, sat upright, manifested his intention, and sat in the lotus position," and so on.
