The term "Buddha" refers to the Buddha himself, who is the all-knowing one. It is merely a designation, an empty name without substance. That which is not manifestly established is established merely by designation. Here, since the name of a Bodhisattva who is not manifestly established is not established, the all-knowing ones have not attained it, this is the meaning. Similarly, having blocked attainment through the gate of selflessness of phenomena and the gate of name, the negation of selflessness of the person is taught, such as "How?" and so forth. Utterly non-existent is one extreme. Not manifestly established is that which is not true. Likewise, and so forth, the so-called nature of non-things, these are the nature of non-things, which is the meaning of no-nature. That which is free from grasping and apprehending, without entering, or unborn, that form, from which to how long, how is consciousness, is not existence, this is the meaning. That which is conventionally interdependent arising, the nature of the non-existence of these things, emptiness, is the non-manifest entering, the unborn suchness, that is the ultimate truth. "That is not" negates non-difference, and "What is that like?" and so on, is by differentiation. To a Bodhisattva who is merely emptiness, who is not manifestly established, one should guide with merely emptiness that is not manifestly established. "Nowhere is it found," because the suchness of ultimate truth is the nature of being free from all imputations such as different and non-different. "Nowhere else is it found," because conventional and ultimate are of one taste. Therefore, the noble ones, in conventional truth, whatever is interdependent arising, is regarded as only emptiness. The lion's roar of "no thing, no independence" is not equal to you. And again, this lack of independence, here too the noble ones say: Because there is nowhere a phenomenon that is not interdependent arising, therefore there is no phenomenon that is not emptiness. The wise and the unwise, worldly people, to them, constant and impermanent, constant change, the wise do not see the true meaning in this. Thus, all phenomena

Now, it is about the aggregates and so on. The Buddha's Dharma is the power and fearlessness to be attained, and so on. The Dharma of the Bodhisattva is the qualities previously attained, and so on. The term "awareness" refers to the Bodhisattva. The five phrases beginning with "the mind does not change" describe the five aspects of calm abiding. The four phrases "do not turn outwards," and "pacifying, nearly pacifying," refer to focusing the mind on one object and holding it evenly. These refer to the mind that is placed on selflessness, and later deteriorates and becomes attached to things, which is not the case. Here, the four prevent subsequent deterioration, so the mind does not deteriorate along with it. Thus, the six phrases describe the nine phrases of calm abiding. "Not being afraid" means not hating insight, and so on. These two phrases describe the path of union. Thus, "not being afraid of samadhi" is the aspect of calm abiding. Not being completely afraid due to correct insight, and not being completely possessed by fear, is the aspect of insight. "Practice" refers to the teachings, and the remainder is explanation. "Meditation" refers to meditation with calm abiding. Near realization refers to realization with insight, that is, with the aspect of selflessness. Definite contemplation refers to contemplation by the wise through the path of union after near realization. The reason for this is that "why is that?" is the question, and "when" and so on is the answer. Dharma refers to all dharmas. "In the Prajnaparamita" refers to what is manifest. "Not closely thinking" means not closely taking signs. "Not closely grasping" means not making distinctions, because of not distinguishing. "In the Prajnaparamita" is spoken to prevent discrimination about self-nature, in order to prevent discrimination about differences, that is, "not truly seeing the arising of form," and so on. Ultimately, because it does not combine with arising, there is also no cessation. "Likewise" and so on refers to the distinction between the unarisen and the unceased of form and so on.
