It should be abandoned, it should be attended to, and there is no elaboration of attention. Because dependent arising itself is unborn by its very nature, therefore, in the extremes and middle of existence and non-existence, it cannot be attended to by the differences of complete analysis. Because there is no attention, children are frightened, and because it cannot be fathomed, it is profound. As the noble Nāgārjuna said: "Transcending existence and non-existence, for whom does the mind not abide? They contemplate the profound, un-attentive meaning of dependent arising." That is to say, liberation from the extremes of addition and denial is profundity itself. For what is neither existent nor non-existent, does not abide before the mind, for it there is no other realization, from non-attention it is completely pacified, in the manner of self-nature pacified. In the state of non-absorption, one attends to all dharmas in the nature of conventional and ultimate truths. In the state of absorption, one abides in non-attention to anything, etc., which is the opposite of all elaborations of conceptualization. In attention, at the time of practice, it is like making an edge. The state of its fruit that will arise is that the purpose of self-nature is like the signified. In this regard, it is said in the scriptures: "The supreme of all sentient beings, namely mind, renunciation, and realization, by the self-arising of the three great ones, is called this purpose." It means that it arises from itself, so it is self-arising. For the Bodhisattvas, their purpose is to desire the perfect and complete enlightenment that is to be sought here. By the three great ones, the supreme of all sentient beings is accomplished, and the three are mind, renunciation, and realization. Among them, the great nature of mind is the mind like the vajra. What is taught for the purpose of abandoning all views is the great nature of renunciation. Non-attachment to the mind of enlightenment, etc., is the great nature of realization. By the great nature of mind, the great nature of renunciation, and the great nature of realization, one seeks

"汝" (kyed) means "great doing." Here, it refers to great Bodhisattvas because it is the realm of great doing. "Great sentient being" (sems can chen po) means a large sentient being. Here, it is the opportune moment, hence "for the sake of realization," etc. The meaning of realization is not aimless or without object, but is desire, which is the cause. "Aggregate of sentient beings" (sems can gyi phung po) is a summary, while "class of sentient beings" (sems can gyi ris) is an extensive explanation. Its excellence lies in being rightly gathered by the Great Vehicle. The great excellence of the aggregate of sentient beings dwelling in the entirety of samsara, etc., is expressed by the great aggregate of sentient beings itself. "From then on," etc., means that "at that time" is the opportunity. Here, the four, "I" (bdag), etc., are taught as thirteen in the Great Mother Sutra, but all are the same in meaning despite differing philosophical schools, differing only in verbal explanations. Among them, "I" is due to clinging to "I." "Sentient being" (sems can) is because it is immersed in beings. "Life" (srog) is the exhaustion and non-abiding of a body of the same kind due to the power of the life force. "Liberation of the agent" (rtsom pas grol ba) is because it arises due to afflictions and karma. "Nourishment" (gso ba) is because it is nourished by elements, etc., as food. "Person" (skyes bu) is because it harms the body of a man, but not because it possesses the faculties of a man, because if so, it would be a fault that the persons of the form realm are not persons. Again, "person" (gang zag) is because it repeatedly enters into various realms. "Powerful one" (shed can) is because it is born in various realms through the actions of the primary mind. "Lord of power" (shed kyi bdag po) means "power lord" (shed bdag). "Doer" (byed pa po) is because it is the basis of virtuous and other actions. "Feeler" (tshor ba po) is because it experiences the ripening of karma. "Knower" (shes pa po) is because the consciousness of mind is its place. "Seer" (mthong pa po) is because the five consciousnesses, such as eye, are its place. Their view is clinging to the appearance of those things as truly existent. Arising is samsara, and destruction is nirvana; the view of these two is a supremely certain view. "View of annihilation" (chad par lta ba) is because it will be cut off after attaining nirvana. Constantly arising.
