The scripture says, "Attachment to characteristics is not a means, but a distant path." That is, attachment to characteristics is not a means. Furthermore, it is said that names and characteristics accumulate, and accumulation is through names. What makes it distant is that characteristics make it distant. The treatise says, "This is what the skillful in means say, it is said to be the very nature of closeness." That is, entering without attachment, for those skillful in means, attachment and clinging, the nature of truth and otherness, are additions. What is said about that is like "Yes, like that," and so on. The well-spoken is with the sixteen moments in the path of seeing. The well-shown is with the twelve branches. The ultimate is because it does not dwell extremely in samsara and nirvana. The extremely pure is because it has abandoned the extremes of attachment. Where, how much, etc., are the adornments of words. Wonderful, in name. Skillful in abandoning attachment is near. That is, one should first generally explain all attachments, and then explain them separately. Here, the treatise says, "Form and other aggregates are emptiness, the dharmas realized in the three times, generosity and other aspects of enlightenment, the thought of practice is a contrary aspect." That is, form and other dharmas, aggregates are accumulations. The thought of practice, because it is a contrary nature that is named or characterized, is a contrary aspect, that is, it has the meaning of attachment. What is said about that is like "After that," and so on. In the middle Prajnaparamita, generosity and other paramitas, and the aspects of enlightenment should be practiced, such knowledge is attachment, what is said like that, because it is briefly shown here, should be obtainable. The remaining attachment that is said, like "Arise here," and so on. By what kind of name, this differentiated path, is the first bodhicitta, that is, it is first attached by realization. One should dedicate to enlightenment, that is, distinguishing and dedicating is the second. The attachment here, because it is without self-nature in the ultimate sense, and because the mind does not discriminate, it is said for this reason.

Saying "cannot" is because the nature of mind itself is without inherent existence. In order to abandon all things that are called attachment, it is said in the scriptures here: "Giving and so on have no self-grasping, others are integrated into this, this is to cut off the extreme of attachment." That is to say, there is no self-grasping for giving and so on, because of the power of not appearing as real things. It has been said before that integrating others into non-attachment is because of "for this" and so on. The so-called "its name" is because of abandoning one's own attachment. The so-called "outward" is at the time of correctly showing to others and so on. The so-called correct showing is to let those who have not heard before hear. The so-called correct placement is to correctly guide acceptance in order to practice accordingly. The so-called correct praise is to generate joy oneself. The so-called correct rejoicing is through diligent effort "good" and so on. The so-called correct following of realization is because of abandoning attachment. The so-called non-harming is not harming the Buddhas. Similarly, by not having self-grasping and two kinds of combination, the gross extremes of attachment are cut off. It is said in the scriptures: "Attachment to the Buddha and so on is subtle." That is to say, attachment to anything such as the Buddha is also subtle. The sound of "etc." refers to rejoicing in their and other roots of virtue and so on, all of which are grasped with characteristics. This is what is said about "from then on" and so on. The so-called "cannot completely dedicate" is because it will fall into the three times, so it cannot be done with characteristics, nor can it be grasped, because there is no reason and it is difficult to understand. The so-called "liberated from the three times" refers to the fact that, in order, the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and consciousness cannot recognize it. The so-called "not directly realizing Bodhi" refers to the fact that in any place, it itself has not the slightest inherent existence. Whatever is the nature of these, is non-substantial. Whatever is non-substantial, is the nature of these inconceivable, because it is beyond thought. That is from form and feeling up to the Buddha.
