That is, the Alaya consciousness and the eighth consciousness. This consciousness, together with those other consciousnesses, contemplates the virtues and non-virtues of other dharmas, thereby increasing the seeds of habituation that correspond to it. Thus, it obtains the special power to transform all continuums as it should, and truly, later, its result appears as joy or displeasure. For example, cotton seeds soaked in madder juice, their flowers and fruits also turn red, and the fruit is born from this. This is also stated in the *Sandhinirmocana Sutra*, in terms of the differences of those to be tamed: 'The taking consciousness is deep and extremely subtle, all seeds flow like a stream of water, it is not appropriate to grasp it as self, this I have not taught to children.' So it is said. That is, at the time of rebirth, it is the taking of the body, that is, the ripening of previous actions and all the seeds of consciousness, this is the meaning of 'this is the Alaya consciousness'. This is said to children, especially to the debaters, because they manifest and grasp the mind as self, so it has not been taught to the Hearer Vehicle. Therefore, those who hear this should not become arrogant with a very firm ego, thinking that it is the self of consciousness. Whoever speaks of self and consciousness in this way, it is separated from characteristics, and the establishment of the name Alaya consciousness on the basis of the remaining habits that are not completely cut off from the object and appearance is unreasonable. If the object and appearance are not interdependent, then in all appearances the object is uncertain, like a horse's horn. The self-awareness that truly exists and its characteristics have been analyzed before, so there is no need to elaborate here. This is the meaning of separating the seventh and eighth consciousnesses, and establishing them only in the mind consciousness. The eighteen realms of the six faculties, the six objects, and the six consciousnesses each hold their own characteristics.

Thus it is said. Here, "thus" and so on, the word is the peak, its category is well distinguished, that is, the meaning of the middle peak. Belief is not the ultimate certainty that has arisen. Here, "all" is manifested. "Omniscient wisdom" is extensively explained. Dharma nature is the power of the truth of the past, that is, the Dharma of Prajnaparamita. Complete grasping is the inner augmentation. Non-perception is due to seeing things nearby. Nirvana is the most supreme of all. Also, not making pride in this is the thing itself. This is after rising from the Samadhi of the heretics, abandoning it for the sake of that itself with the power of faith, in order to know that it is the root. This is also what will be explained. By what, that is, for what will not be augmented as having form, etc. If all the augmentations within it cease, will it gradually attain Nirvana like the Shravakas? The answer is, "not intermediate state" and so on. The extreme of the peak is said in the treatise: With the wisdom of complete investigation, all do not follow the conditions. Thus it is said, in Prajnaparamita, complete investigation, here the condition is, all not following the conditions is the aspect. To this it is said, there are also "others" and so on, what is this, the search for what is this is the general search. What and so on is the difference. That Prajnaparamita is the Prajnaparamita that understands the meaning. Near investigation is to make non-perception for the sake of elimination, that is, to investigate separately. Near perception is the only certainty. Non-regression and so on are combined with no mind. The remainder is as before. The freedom of small endurance is said in the treatise: Form, etc., self-nature is without self-nature, that which is without self-nature. Thus it is said, form, etc., is separated from the self-nature of form, etc., thus it is said that all dharmas without self-nature are conditions, that is, from the perspective of conventional truth. The self-nature of that which is without self-nature is the self-nature of no thing.

"Form and so on" refers to the aspect from the perspective of ultimate truth. It is said therein: Starting from "then" etc., "form and so on being separated from the nature of form and so on" refers to the object of focus. In "self-nature is also separated from the characteristic of self-nature," the self-nature that is separated from self-nature is the nature of form and so on, which refers to the aspect, implying that there is not the slightest characteristic anywhere. The middle forbearance is stated in the treatise: "Therein, there is no birth, no departure, purity," etc. It is said therein: Why is that? Starting from "because" etc., the non-birth and non-departure from all phenomena is the object of focus here. The complete purity of the body, speech, and mind of the Bodhisattva who hears this Dharma refers to the aspect, which is to be free from the misdeeds of body, speech, and mind. Abiding in abiding, clear and complete, refers to the complete purity of the sign. The purity of sentient beings and vessels refers to the complete purity of the Buddha-field. The great treatise states: "It has no characteristics, does not rely on its signs, has no faith or non-thought." It means that being devoid of the signs of form and so on is the object of focus here. From the signs of form and so on, and form and so on, to where one abides and the thought of faith, liberation from these refers to the aspect. In this regard, the firm establishment of faith refers to the certainty of non-abiding, which refers to the certainty of faith. Terminology refers to thought, and it is said in this regard: Furthermore, starting from "other" etc., cessation refers to destruction in an instant, and destruction refers to continuous destruction. "Existing and individually ceasing, things existing simultaneously, those individually obstructed, these are not all known." and so on. By negating the conduct of signs, there exists the conduct of Prajñāpāramitā, the conduct of signs is the sign of form and so on, and relying on form and so on, possessing the nature of faith and thought. The aspect of its power is also spoken of, that is, starting from "conduct" etc., the conduct of Prajñāpāramitā is the manifestation of eight aspects without arrogance, "non" refers to the meaning of non-grasping. Thus, having obtained forbearance, having become empowered over karma, one will not fall into the lower realms, and will always be miraculously born.
