The ground manifests. Beru and twenty. As it is explained, the fifteenth moment of the path of seeing, the eighth of those who have entered the stream-enterer fruit, there are two types, the follower of faith is the dull faculty, because he follows that path with faith. The follower of Dharma is the wisdom that sees the Dharma, because he follows that path with wisdom, he is the sharp faculty, therefore he does not return. Thus, in the Intermediate Mother Sutra, the follower of faith, if someone dies from non-humans and is born among humans, that non-returning Bodhisattva is the one with hesitant faculties, and so on. The follower of Dharma, if someone dies from the Tushita gods and is born here, their faculties also become sharp, and so on. The sixteenth moment is the stream-enterer, he, through the path of meditation, abandons the four specific afflictions of the desire realm, possessing the four specific aspects of realization, on the difficult-to-tame ground, there are two types: from human lineage to human lineage and from divine lineage to divine lineage. Having abandoned the fifth specific affliction of the desire realm, the ground manifested by the five aspects is the once-returner fruit. The dull faculty of the one who has entered, obtained through faith and vision, is one. Having abandoned the six afflictions that pervade the desire realm, the one who is far away by the six aspects is the once-returner, because he comes back to this world once and attains nirvana elsewhere. Because he has one life remaining, he is separated by one life here, therefore he is the one with one interval, at the end of the interval he becomes a Buddha. Having abandoned the seventh affliction that pervades the desire realm, up to the seven distinctions. Having abandoned the affliction of the desire realm that has no distinction, in the immovable and good wisdom, is the one who has entered the non-returner fruit, as before, obtained through faith and vision. Having abandoned the ninth distinction of the desire realm, he is the non-returner in the cloud of Dharma, thus.

Furthermore, it is explained in the Abhidharma-samuccaya of the Mahāyāna tradition that if one desires the path of meditation, one becomes a non-returner by completely abandoning the ninth type of universally present afflictions. The venerable Vimuktisena also said, in the commentary on the definitive arising for the benefit of sentient beings, that the tenth bhūmi bodhisattva merely separates from the smallest of discriminations with the greatest of paths. So, how does one become a non-returner? Wherever one is born, one will not enter into that same place of birth a second time. There are five aspects to this: attaining nirvāṇa in the intermediate state, which refers to manifesting complete enlightenment from the Brahmā realm up to Akanishtha, and showing the manifestation of complete enlightenment here, and so forth. Attaining nirvāṇa after being born refers to coming from Akanishtha to Tushita, and then to Jambudvipa, renouncing the household life, and immediately sitting in the lotus posture under the Bodhi tree, and explaining the nirvana with remainder, characterized by the very generation of the initial bodhicitta. Attaining nirvāṇa after manifesting aggregation refers to manifesting aggregation here for the benefit of sentient beings. Attaining nirvāṇa without manifesting aggregation refers to quickly attaining enlightenment due to the difference in lineage, and manifesting complete enlightenment with very little effort. The fifth is the place of transference, which is reaching the end of Akanishtha and the peak of existence from there. The first is of three types: ascending from the Brahmā realm, ascending halfway, or transferring from all abodes to enter Akanishtha. Reaching the end of the peak of existence is of two types: being free from desire for the form realm, and attaining nirvāṇa, which is the pacification in the present dharma. In all forms of birth, one will continuously attain unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment through the Dharma of generosity and discipline, and so forth, without interruption, and one will realize the Dharma similar to nirvāṇa through bodily manifestation. Therefore, how does one realize it through bodily manifestation with the cessation samāpatti? When one realizes it through bodily manifestation, the mind is non-existent, but relies on the body.
