At that time, because it does not exist in the ultimate sense, it is emptiness; the emptiness that children do not understand is the same in meaning as not understanding itself. Because there is no owner, it is hollow. Because it cannot be grasped, it is empty. Because there is no clinging, it is without essence. "Thus," and emptiness, etc., are the answers to refuting the increase of merit. Subhuti's request, etc., the distinctions are different. Cutting off is to make it different, that is, to those who practice properly and to the close acceptance of those two meanings. "Thus," etc., measure is the complete cutting off of the coarse. Number is inexhaustible because it cannot be exhausted by counting. The more excellent expression is excellence, meaning the main expression. However, inexhaustible is like the sky. Again, immeasurable is like the sky itself. These dharmas are shown by the explicit words of inexhaustible, immeasurable, and emptiness, etc. These are shown through compassion, and its explicit expression is the same cause. Moreover, what is explained in detail here is that in this teaching it says: What is shown by the countless, etc., is intolerable for the ultimate truth. The happiness and compassion of the conventional, becoming the same cause, is what the Able One approves. If it cannot be tolerated, then it is unreasonable, and it has refutation. Subhuti's request, etc., because it is not the realm of speech, it is unspeakable. The meaning of going beyond the other shore is the nature of emptiness. In this teaching it says: For the unspeakable object, decline and increase are unreasonable. Through the path called meditation, what is gained and what is lost? Thus it is said, for the unspeakable of realization, there is no decline and increase, so how is enlightenment, etc., said, however, etc., he thinks like this, that is, by what giving is giving. Those, that is, those who generate bodhicitta, and those who are in accordance with reason. A little is repeatedly, and much is constantly. In this teaching it says: How is enlightenment, so too, that also accomplishes the desired meaning. Enlightenment that

The characteristic of suchness. Moreover, it is established as its characteristic. These and "these" and "that" are the path of meditation. How, by the power of great compassion, through unsurpassed enlightenment, the accomplisher of the meaning of what is desired to be manifested conventionally by way of the merit and wisdom of those to be tamed. Thus, that path of meditation, the nature of suchness, like illusion, etc., the nature of the Thus-gone One's essence, performs actions in the order of purification, diminution, and increase. The nature of suchness, the nature of illusion, the nature of the Dharmakaya, which is the nature of the five aggregates without elaboration, etc., the enlightenment of the essence of the Thus-gone One, thus that path of meditation, the meaning of the essence of suchness. "By few and many" refers to the stages of application and subsequent attainment. In the case of the four objects, it is unreasonable to abide by their very nature. The chapter in which emptiness is predominant is the chapter on emptiness, the eighteenth. From then on, etc., is for the opponent. "Thus he spoke" is the answer. Here, in the treatise, it says: "The mind is not enlightened by the former, nor is it born from a later dissimilar one. By way of the example of a lamp, the profound nature of Dharma has eight aspects." The word "enlightenment" should be added later. In the eighteenth chapter, it is taught that enlightenment is solely the characteristic of suchness. The characteristic of that enlightenment, together with its retinue, is profound in eight ways. Here, in the treatise, it says: "Birth and cessation, suchness and what is to be known, knowledge and action and non-duality, are profound for the skillful in means." Non-duality and skill in means are two. "Thus he spoke," etc., is the opportunity for profundity. "The other" means non-existence. "Thus he spoke," and the Blessed One, etc., spoke of eight kinds of profundity. "Which mind" refers to delusion. Cessation is the exhaustion of the two obscurations, together with their habitual tendencies, on the continuum of the basis, and thus exhaustion. "Limb" means non-existence, abandoning the manifest clinging to the objects of the cause of delusion and non-objects, etc., and various
