All the fully enlightened Buddhas have declared: Drinking alcohol is a prohibited transgression. Among all the prohibited transgressions, why is drinking alcohol specifically prohibited? The answer is that although it is a prohibited transgression, drinking alcohol can completely exhaust the karmic imprints of previous habits, leading to the commission of the other ten transgressions. Some people say that because drinking alcohol can become the cause of naturally negative actions, the prohibition of drinking alcohol is also mentioned among those prohibitions. If a being, solely due to the mind of affliction, repeatedly engages in actions that cause only undesirable results for themselves, this is a naturally negative action, like the ten non-virtues such as killing. Similarly, if drinking alcohol transforms into the thought of benefiting those who are hungry, etc., then engaging in it as if drinking is not a transgression. Therefore, even though the monk Leghong had become an Arhat, he still drank alcohol, and from that time onwards, the Vinaya Pitaka declared the prohibition of drinking alcohol. In the Mahayana, it is not the case for all beings, but here it refers to non-Dharma, and therefore it is not shown as eleven paths of action. Here, non-virtuous actions are not considered good deeds. Furthermore, the statement "should not be done" becomes weak due to complete refutation; diligently practicing the antidote for the sake of the meaning of uncontaminated virtuous actions also weakens it; after properly taking vows, obtaining the vow of not doing, the power of restoration weakens it; taking refuge in the Three Jewels; and the power of the support of the mind of enlightenment. The mind of enlightenment is the antidote to clinging to reality, and it is also the antidote to afflictions such as ignorance, which is its root, and it can purify all actions. The ultimate mind of enlightenment, which is the action of uncontaminated wisdom, can purify all actions in all aspects with the nature of non-objectification. Thus, sons of good family, the mind of enlightenment, like the fire at the end of an eon, burns all misdeeds, this is extensively taught. Where millions of eons

Furthermore, actions do not perish; at the time of their aggregation and attainment, they will bring about results for sentient beings. That is to say, the reason why they do not perish and bring about results is due to the distinction of the complete transformation of the continuum, just like the seeds of rice and so on, and not due to other factors outside of their own nature. Such as "completely experiencing in the visible dharma," "experiencing after birth," and "completely experiencing from this in other instances" are called actions. Such transformations should be known from practicing antidotes. The Blessed One once showed that the tip of the thumb of his emanation body was injured by a stone thrown by Mara. All these teachings are for the purpose of guiding beings to engage in and turn away from virtue and non-virtue, as well as non-virtuous actions. Even though the Thus-Gone One is the Vajra Essence Body, he still shows similar forms to sentient beings, and shows ascetic practices to those to be tamed. Purification is not achieved merely through discipline and asceticism, but only through correct wisdom. This is to strongly demonstrate this principle. Therefore, even for those who have become Bodhisattvas, even if all the weapons of the eighty billion hundred thousand kotis of the retinue of the Desire Realm's自在天(Tibetan: འདོད་པའི་ཁམས་ཀྱི་དབང་ཕྱུག་, Sanskrit: kāmadhātu-vaśavartin, Romanization: Kamadhatu-vasavartin, meaning: Lord of the Desire Realm) could not touch a single hair, let alone cause harm, what need is there to mention the harm caused by Devadatta, who was merely an ordinary person? There is no need to say more. The phrase "truly establishing and making firm" is a sign. Furthermore, wherever the Dharma is taught through sutras, Vinaya, etc., the Sutra Pitaka refers to those that state the meaning only in verses. The Vinaya refers to those sutras in which the beginning and end are stated in verses, in order to understand the meaning of straightforwardness. Prophecy refers to the prediction made to qualified individuals when the Shravakas pass away and the time is ripe, which is the definitive Sutra Pitaka, and therefore it is taught based on the ultimate meaning. Where is this verse spoken? Namely, two-line verses, three-line verses, and four-line verses.
