Therefore, the meaning of "Kauśika, therefore" is that because of practicing the path of the Lesser Vehicle, Bodhisattvas, not being skilled in means, would fall into the Lesser Bodhi, and doubts arise. Therefore, Kauśika, this path of knowledge is a great armor, a great skillful means. Wearing it is for the purpose of protecting oneself. This great armor is like this: one should meditate with the intention of possessing all-knowingness. After getting up, one should also dedicate all roots of virtue to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete, and fully awakened Bodhi. Moreover, it should be done in a non-objective manner. This is the path of seeing for the Hearers. After this, what is in accordance with the part of ascertainment will be explained, starting from "not abiding in form," up to "not being separated from this abiding and intention." Among them, "not abiding in the Buddha himself" is the heat stage. After that, "not abiding in the Buddha himself" is the peak stage. Then, "not abiding by focusing on the emptiness of consciousness" is the forbearance stage. The remainder is the supreme Dharma of the world. Among them, not having manifest attachment to not abiding in form, etc., is the heat stage. Not focusing on the characteristics of form, etc., is the peak stage. Not focusing on form, etc., as two, is the forbearance stage. Because it is an object of focus, focusing on emptiness itself is also dualistic. Not abiding in the distinctions of the fruit of stream-entry, etc., is the supreme Dharma of the world. Blessed One. This sutra should be cited in other treatises as follows: not abiding in form, etc., is the heat. That which is the peak is the same. Not abiding in form, etc., as permanent and impermanent, is forbearance. Here, not abiding in the fruits and distinctions of the noble person is the supreme Dharma. It is the path of the noble Hearer. Here, "not abiding in the contact that is the union of the eye" means that the changes of the senses corresponding to the pleasure, etc., that arise from the combination of the sense faculty, object, and consciousness, are merely similar cessations, which are pleasure, etc.

Touch is spoken of as arising from the mind of generation. Starting from the transformation of the senses and touch. Therefore, according to the classification of the senses, it extends from the touch arising from the gathering of the eye sense to the touch arising from the gathering of the mind sense. That is, in the Abhidharma, it is said that the complete cessation of the transformation of the senses from the gathering of the three is touch, which is the agent that produces feeling. Lovable means pure. Unlovable means impure. Completely distinguishing by the unconditioned means that from the exhaustion of afflictions and ignorance, it is the very nature of the unconditioned. In this world means in the desire realm. In that very place means being born in that very place. The remainder of the aggregates without leaving any means that the aggregates are a collection. That is the remainder, so it is the remainder of the aggregates. Because of the opposite of that, it is the absence of the remainder of the aggregates. The Nirvana of the Buddha means not abiding in Samsara and Nirvana, gradually all afflictions are completely exhausted, and for the sake of the unconditioned Dharma, one abides for the benefit of limitless beings, even to the extent of the edge of space. It is also not arising, because there is no gaining and losing. Not abiding and also not not abiding means because of the nature of the mind that does not abide and because there is no arising. Not completely abiding and also not not completely abiding means in the manner of abandoning, as before. The remainder is easy to understand, that is the supreme of Dharma. Thus, the four dharmas corresponding to the part of discernment on the Hearer's path are explained. By the power of the Buddha, in the stage of the Pratyekabuddha path, some sons of the gods have such and such discriminations. Relying on that, from then on, in that retinue, etc., it is said. Some means that the Hearer's path taught by the Holy Liberation is also deeply contemplated. How the Yakshas, etc., means what they say. How the Yakshas, etc., say means teaching, they do so with language. Among them, those sounds mean teaching. The remainder is the subsequent teaching. Words are the collection of language. Saying is with the collection of language. Saying is making understand. Then, the venerable one said
