are the establishments of mindfulness. In terms of the distinction of the objects of focus, there are four: the establishment of mindfulness of the body, the establishment of mindfulness of feelings, the establishment of mindfulness of the mind, and the establishment of mindfulness of phenomena. Among these, one abides contemplating the body in the internal body, and does not engage in conceptualization with discriminations related to the body, nor does one rely on the manner of non-objectification, but abides with diligence, awareness, and mindfulness. Similarly, with the external body, similarly, with the internal and external body, similarly, with the internal, external, and internal-external feelings and mind, and phenomena, from abiding contemplating feelings, up to abiding contemplating phenomena. One does not engage in conceptualization with discriminations related to phenomena, nor does one rely on the manner of non-objectification, but with diligence, awareness, and mindfulness, one eliminates attachment and displeasure towards the world. Here, the internal body refers to one's own six sense bases, such as the eyes. The external body refers to conditioned phenomena external to one's own body. The internal and external body refers to the remaining parts of one's own body that are composed of the four elements and what arises from the four elements. Feelings and so forth also have three aspects due to the distinction of focusing on the body. Feeling refers to pleasure, pain, and neither pleasure nor pain. Phenomena refer to virtuous and non-virtuous mental events. Contemplating the body and so forth means contemplating the nature of the body and so forth. Being associated with the body and so forth means being associated with the names of the body and so forth. 'This is my body,' discriminating with 'my body is permanent or impermanent, pleasant or painful,' and so forth. Among these, contemplating in the manner of non-objectification is non-discrimination. Because it is the practice of reverence and constancy, it is diligence. Because of the practice of contemplation and awareness, it is awareness. Possessing the nature of non-forgetfulness, possessing the nature of constant protection, possessing mindfulness with the nature of not being distracted externally. These are diligence, wisdom, and mindfulness. In order to show the benefits of these, it is said that attachment and displeasure towards the world are eliminated. 'Eliminated' means abandoned.

O! The world is the law of the world. For gain, fame and praise, it is greed. For not gaining, fame, suffering and slander, it is unpleasantness. Holding these with correct wisdom is to hold correctly. Or, it is to abandon correctly. That is four ways, namely: In order to abandon the non-virtuous dharmas that have arisen, generate intention, strive, be diligent, hold wisdom, correctly establish, and so on. Similarly, in order not to generate the sinful non-virtuous dharmas that have not yet arisen, generate intention, and so on. Similarly, in order to generate the virtuous dharmas that have not yet arisen, and so on. Similarly, in order for the virtuous dharmas that have already arisen to remain and increase, generate intention, and so on. Among them, with armor-like diligence, generate the intention of "should do like this". With the diligence of application, it is to strive. With tireless diligence, it is to be diligent without weariness. With the diligence of means, it is to hold wisdom. Among them, for sinking, the mind is made high by holding it with wisdom. For excitement, the mind is correctly established by gathering it together. Miraculous power is beyond the world, because it is the place of miraculous power, therefore it is the foot of miraculous power. That is also four kinds, namely the samadhi of intention, the samadhi of diligence, the samadhi of mind, and the samadhi of observation. Thus, some people, because they have strong intention, generate the samadhi with the characteristic of single-pointedness. Some people, with the diligence of correct abandonment, show acceptance of not generating the accumulation of non-virtue. Some people completely hold the mind with the characteristics of abiding, holding, and abandoning. Some people, even for subtle non-virtuous actions, discern whether they are practicing correctly or whether they are not practicing correctly, thereby completely observing themselves, that is correctly and definitely abandoning. Because of these, afflictions are far away, and in order to abandon habitual tendencies, when the above four kinds of correct abandonment diligence are started, the eight kinds of abandoning actions manifest.
