There is no uninterrupted entry. The absence of conceptualization and examination is so called because there is no clinging to all of them in every way. The desire for joy is called equanimity because of reason itself, and it is equanimity even for the joy of conceptualization and examination. Being mindful and aware is called so because it does not give an opportunity for joy and uses wisdom many times. Happiness is the happiness of experience and the happiness of extreme training. 'By body' means the body of form and the body of mind. The noble ones are the hearers and the self-enlightened ones. 'Abiding in happiness' means this meditator himself, which is the remainder. Among them, what abandons happiness is the fourth dhyana. With the first suffering. Therefore, this one has already been said before. Mental happiness is with the third. Mental unhappiness is with the second. What was previously known is also applied here. Equanimity here is feeling, therefore it is said that it is neither happiness nor suffering. Equanimity and mindfulness are completely purified, these two have attained permanent purification here. Among them, the first dhyana has five branches: conceptualization and examination are the branches of antidote. Joy and happiness are the branches of benefit. One-pointedness of mind is the branch of both of them. The second has four branches: inner purity is the branch of antidote. The remaining branches are the same as before. The third has five branches: equanimity, mindfulness, and awareness are the branches of antidote. Happiness is the branch of benefit. The branch of abiding is the same as before. The fourth has four branches: complete purification of equanimity and complete purification of mindfulness are the branches of antidote. Feeling that is neither happiness nor suffering is the branch of benefit. The branch of abiding is the same as before. These four dhyanas are arranged in this way. The remainder is the same as before, that is the praise of the great great. Furthermore, from "Kaushika, in Jambudvipa" to "will be offered to the one who distinguishes well" shows the first respect. Making up for what is incomplete are the first four.

It should be arranged as follows: the four dhyanas, the four immeasurables, the four formless absorptions, and the five superknowledges. If arranged between the dhyanas, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, and all the superknowledges, then the dhyanas have already been explained. Loving-kindness and so on are the four Brahma-viharas that focus on sentient beings in the desire realm. Because they focus on immeasurable sentient beings, they are immeasurable. These are loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. May all sentient beings have happiness, may they be free from suffering, may they never be separated from happiness, and may they be liberated from all afflictions—these are their aspects. These are the thoughts of having happiness, of being free from suffering, of never being separated from happiness, and of being without all afflictions. In the stage of faith practice, all four focus on sentient beings. The seventh, extreme joy, focuses on suchness. For the immovable and so on, there is no object of focus. Regarding the immeasurables, the sutra says: "A mind endowed with loving-kindness, vast, expansive, non-dual, immeasurable, unconfined, unrelaxed, unobscured, unharmed, all-pervading, well-cultivated, pervaded by the realm of the world, reaching to the limit of the realm of space, possessing all, pervading one direction of the world, abiding completely and perfectly, pervading the ten directions, abiding perfectly." Similarly, this should also be applied to those endowed with compassion, those endowed with joy, and those endowed with equanimity. Among these, "a mind endowed with loving-kindness" indicates possessing qualities. The rest indicate the qualities. "Vast" indicates a broad mind. "Expansive" indicates growth. "Immeasurable" indicates the object of focus. "Non-dual" indicates not discriminating the nature of oneness. "Unconfined" indicates abandoning unfavorable aspects. Among these, the unfavorable aspects of loving-kindness and so on are, in order, harmful intent.
