That which is called "is" refers to the three trainings. With "in this" and so on, that itself is proclaimed. "Having learned" is called "with mind." "Having practiced" is called "with quiescence." "If diligent" is called "with insight." "Sentient beings' realm" is called "sentient beings' aggregates." Because it is permanent, it is unsurpassed. Aggregates are collections, referring to those with or without outflows, their exhaustion is complete exhaustion, it is for that. Abiding manifestly is because all obscurations are exhausted. "Completely distinguishing at the true edge" is called "merely having superiority." "Possessing the wisdom of complete abandonment" is called "possessing the wisdom of abandoning in all ways." "Surpassing it" is called "with the praise of the second praise, because the ten virtuous paths are truly established, that is the praise of the great of the small." After that, the five praises are, with कौशिका (Sanskrit Devanagari, Kauśika, Sanskrit Romanization, Kauśika, Chinese literal meaning) this name, "of the four continents" and so on, until "having truly established and placed," is the first part, and after that, कौशिका (Sanskrit Devanagari, Kauśika, Sanskrit Romanization, Kauśika, Chinese literal meaning) "what do you think" and so on, until "other कौशिका (Sanskrit Devanagari, Kauśika, Sanskrit Romanization, Kauśika, Chinese literal meaning) Jambudvipa," the second part is shown. From these sutras, what is proclaimed is that with superior merit, faith and so on arise, and what is understood by implication is that with superior merit, conduct is superior. "With this name" is called "type," having faith in the three things is called the meaning of "abiding." This is in order, the small of the middle, the middle of the middle, the great of the middle, the small of the great, the praise of the middle of the great. "Other कौशिका (Sanskrit Devanagari, Kauśika, Sanskrit Romanization, Kauśika, Chinese literal meaning) Jambudvipa" and so on, until "other कौशिका (Sanskrit Devanagari, Kauśika, Sanskrit Romanization, Kauśika, Chinese literal meaning) Jambudvipa," there are five "let alone," therefore the fifth praise is shown. That one itself is explained in the ninth order, although it is so, is there not a great difference from the eighth? If asked like that, there is no fault in this, just like a world filled with worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges. The superior merit spoken of in the sutra is the superiority of faith and so on. From that, conduct is superior.

Words and phrases are missing, they should be supplemented externally. Regarding the four dhyanas, here the sutra says, being secluded from desires, secluded from sinful and unwholesome dharmas, with initial application and sustained application, being possessed of joy and pleasure born of seclusion, the first dhyana is accomplished and dwelt in. With the subsiding of initial application and sustained application, with internal purity, with unification of mind, without initial application, without sustained application, with joy and pleasure born of concentration, the second dhyana is accomplished and dwelt in. With detachment from the desire for joy, being mindful and fully aware, experiencing pleasure with the body, as the noble ones say, 'Dwelling in pleasure with mindfulness, is equanimity,' the third dhyana, which is without joy, is accomplished and dwelt in. With the abandonment of pleasure, and with the cessation of mental pleasure and displeasure, being neither pleasure nor pain, with purity of equanimity and mindfulness, the fourth dhyana is accomplished and dwelt in. 'Secluded from desires' means not being associated with afflictive desires, and not focusing on desires for objects. 'Secluded from sinful and unwholesome dharmas' means the misconduct of body, speech, and mind arising from afflictive desires. 'With initial application and sustained application' means being associated with initial application and sustained application, which are the antidotes to desire. 'Born of seclusion' means born of seclusion from desire. Joy and pleasure are the accomplishment of the meaning of desire, 'dwelling' means being endowed with joy and pleasure through the extreme taming of body, speech, and mind. 'The first dhyana is accomplished' means accomplishing and dwelling, 'accomplishing' means truly accomplishing. 'Dwelling' means experiencing accordingly. 'He' refers to the yogi who sees the fault of initial and sustained application causing mental distraction, and thus ceases and dwells in samadhi. The subsiding of initial application and sustained application means that by the power of samadhi, the mind becomes unified, which is initial and sustained application.
