. Because the object of focus is vast, it is vast. Because all Buddhas praise it, it is not placed in front. Immeasurable is the Buddha himself. The determination of this is determined as immeasurable. That is the difference between the object of focus and the aspect of the small peak. Moreover, the Blessed One considers this to be a brief explanation, and there are three ways to enter here. That is, one likes to explain in detail, because one cannot understand without explaining, so one values the words and sentences. The second is to like the middle explanation, if only half is said, the rest can be understood, so it is understood after explaining in detail. The third is to like brevity, if a little is explained, a lot can be understood, so it can be understood from the beginning. For these, the Blessed One successively spoke of one hundred thousand verses, twenty-five thousand verses, and one hundred thousand verses. Therefore, here it is considered brief, not detailed. Based on the middle peak. It is said in the scriptures: "Whoever does not cling to all dharmas, nor sees them as characteristics." That's what it says. Whoever does not completely cling to all dharmas, that is the object of focus here. Making one not see the characteristics of the Dharma, that is the aspect. This itself is omniscient, and it is also said with words such as "also". Omniscience is knowing all things. Because there is no clinging, there is no complete grasping. From where is there no grasping? Because there is no grasping of characteristics, it is said "not a characteristic" and so on. The characteristics of the dharmas are the characteristics of difference, from form and feeling, etc., to the Buddhadharmas. To explain this, it is said "if" and so on. The wandering mendicant group refers to the name of the wandering mendicant. Here it refers to the Buddha's teachings. What kind of state does the wandering mendicant group enter? That is, it enters the wisdom of omniscience, that is, the middle peak. After believing in this way, one also follows it with faith. What does one enter with? Because a part emerges from the whole, one enters with the wisdom of a part, that is, the middle peak. To explain what was done after entering, it is said form, etc.

It is said "completely without grasping," because one does not attend to its characteristics. The joy and happiness arising from samadhi, knowing that one possesses this joy and happiness, is also not truly seen. Saying "This consciousness aggregate is also not truly seen within the form aggregate," etc., is also to show that one does not attend to its characteristics. It is not apart from the form aggregate, nor is it apart from the consciousness aggregate. Although one does not attend to its characteristics, they are manifest. In the phrase "category of words," "word" means the peak. Its category is detailed differentiation, which is a synonym for "intermediate peak." "Faith" refers to the arising of a definite and certain belief. "Here, everything" means teaching. "To the omniscient wisdom" means teaching accordingly. "Everything" means "intermediate peak." If asked, "By what does one follow faith?" The answer is: "Dharma nature," etc., is proclaimed, that is, taking the teacher's teachings as the standard, thereby generating faith. "Object of focus" means seeing it as real. Nirvana is the most excellent of all dharmas, but one should not grasp it as real. Not grasping onto Nirvana is the difference between the object of focus and the aspect of the intermediate peak. In terms of the great peak, the scripture says: "Without any object of focus, it is realized by wisdom." Realizing through the Perfection of Wisdom is its object of focus. Non-focusing on all dharmas is the aspect, and furthermore, "Bhagavan," etc., is proclaimed. Saying "What is this, whose is this" is a general question. What dharma is nonexistent and unfocused, that is the difference. If asked, "Is that the Perfection of Wisdom?" The answer is: If so, that is, if one examines the nonexistent and unfocused, that is differentiation. Thinking is definitely obtaining. "Non-retreating" should be combined with wisdom. The rest is the same as before, the difference between the object of focus and the aspect of the great peak. In terms of small patience, the scripture says: Form, etc.

Self-nature is devoid of self-nature. That which is without self-nature is self-nature. Thus it is said. The object is the self-nature that is separate from form and so forth. The nature of that self-nature is the aspect. Moreover, from "The venerable Śāriputra" and so forth, it is said, up to "Form itself is separate from the self-nature of form" and so forth, and "separate from the characteristic of self-nature" and so forth, is the object. Separate from the meaning of self-nature is the self-nature of form and so forth, which is the aspect. If one trains in this, will one definitely attain omniscience? This is the difference between the object and aspect of the lesser forbearance. Regarding the intermediate forbearance, it is said in the treatise, "Those are unborn, without definite emergence, pure." The fact that all phenomena are unborn and without definite emergence is the object of this. At that time, the body, mind, characteristics, and basis of the bodhisattva are completely pure, which is the aspect. To show that meaning, it says, "Why is that?" and so forth, up to what is said between "Moreover, the venerable Subhūti" and so forth, which is the difference between the object and aspect of the intermediate forbearance. Regarding the great forbearance, it is said in the treatise, "Those are without characteristics, not relying on those characteristics, without desire, without conceptualization." Those are without characteristics, that is, the characteristics of form and so forth, being separate from those natures, is its object. Regarding the characteristics of form and so forth, what is called form and so forth is what is relied upon, desire, and conceptualization, and reversing from those is the aspect. That which is extremely firm and increasingly desirous is what is relied upon. Certainty is desire. Terminology is conceptualization. To show that meaning, from "The venerable Subhūti" and so forth, up to "In that, first showing the unfavorable side, one should know it as skillful means" is what is said. Therefore, from "Those" and so forth, the actual object is taught, and after preventing engagement with signs, it shows engagement with the Perfection of Wisdom. Preventing engagement with signs is the sign of form and so forth, relying on form and so forth.
