He spoke of practices and so on. The so-called cultivation of the Prajñāpāramitā is for the sake of truly knowing all dharmas, and for the meaning of combining generosity and other pāramitās with the absence of characteristics. As for being skilled in means, the means here refers to constantly not abandoning the mind of all-knowingness, and dedicating all merits to Bodhi, which is to explain the chapter on dedication and rejoicing. Therefore, it is said in the treatise: Because the characteristics are to be expressed, it is combined with the absence of characteristics, such as generosity, and is skilled in truly accomplishing it. For one who understands all aspects, it is desired to be in accordance with the aspect of liberation. Thus it is said, and its five distinctions are spoken from the great Bhagavati Mother Prajñāpāramitā. Thus it is said in the treatise: Faith with the Buddhas etc. as the object, diligence with generosity etc. as the field of activity, perfect intention and mindfulness, non-discriminating samādhi, and in all aspects of all dharmas, the wisdom of knowing and the five aspects. Thus it is said. The Blessed One said, "Thus," and so on. This is also said in the treatise: Perfect enlightenment is easy to realize for the sharp-witted, and difficult to realize for the dull-witted. Thus it is said. Then, Indra, the lord of the gods, and others are to reveal the meaning of this passage, because it arises with great effort, it is difficult to arise. These are the distinctions shown. Then, the Blessed One and so on spoke of the distinctions of individuals. Having spoken of distorted wisdom and so on, the words such as distorted wisdom and so on show the distinction of the dull-witted who are in accordance with the aspect of liberation. The sharp-witted who are in accordance with the aspect of liberation easily realize perfect enlightenment, therefore, wanting to explain it, the Blessed One and so on are spoken of thereafter. Asking thus and so on is the Blessed One's answer. It is unreasonable for Subhuti to say that Bodhi is easy to attain when all dharmas are non-existent, because if it were easy to arise merely by that, then all sentient beings would be like that from the very beginning. Therefore, it is attained through practice.

Furthermore, if someone asks whether those dull-witted individuals who are in accordance with the aspects of liberation do not have liberation, the answer is that because there is no arising, they cannot attain it, and therefore it is said that arising is difficult. If someone asks why those with clairvoyance cannot attain perfect and complete enlightenment through the power of hearing, thinking, meditation, and so on, the Blessed One said, "Subhuti, because it is not real." If someone thinks that the meaning grasped by children is enlightenment, that is also not real, because it is false, and therefore it cannot be attained. Like this, thinking that conceptualization is enlightenment, or thinking that the sign of conceptualization is the aspect of a Bodhisattva, both of these views are not reasonable, because enlightenment has no conceptualization, and enlightenment is not attained through conceptualization. In order to show this, the Blessed One said, "Subhuti, because there is no conceptualization." From "after that" and so on, it is Shariputra's answer to the elder. If someone thinks that "because it is emptiness, it manifests" is a contradictory reason, therefore the Blessed One said, "Venerable Subhuti" and so on. Among them, "equal to space" is the reason, meaning that whatever is equal to space will not attain perfect and complete enlightenment through it. Like this, after showing the contradiction, wanting to refute by inference, therefore it is said "if...it would become a fault," that is, "Venerable Subhuti, if" and so on. The answer is: "It is not like that." From "because of what" and so on, it is said in reverse. Or, this is both refuting the reasons of others and establishing one's own view. From "having said that" and so on, Subhuti widely eliminates faults, that is, turning away from perfect and complete enlightenment is because of the conceptualization of wanting to attain perfect and complete enlightenment. After saying "what is the dharma of turning away," in order to establish non-turning away, therefore it is said "what is that" and so on. Among them, "the nature of not abiding in all dharmas" is saying that the nature of not abiding in all dharmas is the correct reasoning. Therefore, not abiding in the nature of dharma.
