All dharmas are solitary, unborn, and empty of inherent nature. What is the difference between the wisdom of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas and the wisdom of the Bodhisattvas? The Buddha replied: Shariputra, after the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas attain complete and perfect enlightenment, do they think to work for the benefit of all sentient beings? Do they think to practice the six paramitas? The answer was: No, they do not. The Buddha replied: For example, the analogy of the firefly's light and the sun's disc has been shown. The Bodhisattva is shown as the object of giving. Is the Bodhisattva the object of giving from the moment of first generating the mind? The Buddha replied: From the very first generation of the mind, they are the object of giving for the great Shravakas. Why is that? Because if there are Bodhisattvas, then all good roots and so forth will arise in the world. Regarding the instructions on the Four Noble Truths, the instruction on the Truth of Suffering is: How should one strive to be said to be striving in the Perfection of Wisdom? The Buddha replied: If one strives in these seven: aggregates, elements, sense bases, truths, conditioned, unconditioned, dependent origination, and emptiness of inherent nature, it is said to be striving. Regarding the instruction on the Truth of Origin: When striving in these, one should not engage in saying 'striving' or 'not striving.' Why is that? Because one does not truly see the arising or ceasing of form, or complete affliction, or complete purification, or that form follows along with feeling. Why is that? Because form is empty of form. What is emptiness, there is no form, etc. There is no arising or ceasing, no complete affliction, no complete purification, and no three times. Regarding the instruction on the Truth of Cessation: In such a way, there is nothing from form to Buddha and Bodhi. Regarding the instruction on the Truth of the Path: From form to omniscience, one should not engage in saying 'striving' or 'not striving.' One should also not join or separate with the three doors of liberation. One should not join or separate the past, future, and present, and from form to omniscience. Why is that? Because there is no inherent nature to what should be separated or joined, and it cannot be observed.
