It is taught to sentient beings who are without existence. The forty-fourth chapter is on equality. This chapter discusses five activities. First, there is an inquiry about the six perfections: If sentient beings and the designation of sentient beings are not attainable, then for whose sake do you meditate on the Mother of the Bodhisattvas? Answer: With skillful means, being skilled in establishing sentient beings on the edge of the right path is when practicing the Mother of the Bodhisattvas. From the moment of generating the first thought, take hold of it closely. Establish sentient beings in the six perfections, and these six are empty of inherent existence and unattainable. The activity of the Buddha's path is to abide in oneself from purity to omniscience and to establish other sentient beings. Regarding the activity of emptiness of inherent existence, there are two questions and answers. First, if all phenomena are empty of inherent existence, then in emptiness of inherent existence, sentient beings, phenomena, and non-phenomena are also unattainable. How do Bodhisattvas engage for the sake of omniscience? Answer: It is indeed so. If all phenomena are empty of inherent existence, then those phenomena are also unattainable. If all phenomena are not empty of inherent existence, then the Bodhisattva, having abided in emptiness of inherent existence and become a Buddha, should not teach emptiness of inherent existence. However, Rabjor (Subhuti) taught that form, and so on up to omniscience, are empty of inherent existence. Therefore, the Dharma should be taught that form, and so on up to omniscience, are empty of inherent existence. The meaning of emptiness of inherent existence is that it does not perish, does not go to non-existence, has no increase or decrease, has no birth or cessation, has no defilement or purification, does not abide in a place, does not abide in a direction, has no going or coming, and having abided in that, one enters into unsurpassed enlightenment in a way that there is no entering. Having seen that all phenomena are empty of inherent existence, one does not truly see all obscuring phenomena. If the twelve characteristics of a great man and the eighty minor marks are unattainable in emptiness of inherent existence, then how can there be doubt about things in unsurpassed enlightenment? For example, when an emanation of the Thus-Gone One teaches the Dharma to the four types of disciples, there is no attainment of stream-enterer and so on, just like that.

Those who are inverted are placed in the non-inverted individuals. In whom there is no inversion, there is no self up to omniscience. In whom there is no form up to omniscience, that is self-nature emptiness. Abiding in that and transformed into inversion, liberated from the perception of sentient beings, the perception of form, and the perception with outflows. From the Dharma of the Bodhi side up to the eighteen unshared Buddha Dharmas, it is not the ultimate truth. Unconditioned, unborn, without arising is self-nature emptiness. That is the Bodhi of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, without self up to omniscience. The Bodhisattva, having fully understood self-nature emptiness, does not enter Bodhi for the sake of the path. That is not self-established in the three times of past, present, and future. The Bodhisattva has perfected all paths, fully matured sentient beings, and fully purified the Buddha-field, then manifests perfect complete enlightenment. The conduct of all Buddhas of the three times will not degenerate from the perfection of self-nature emptiness. The second question is, the Bodhisattva practices self-nature emptiness, and it should not be explained that form up to omniscience is other, and self-nature emptiness is also other. It is wonderful to say that form up to omniscience itself is also self-nature emptiness. The answer is, form up to omniscience is not other, and self-nature emptiness is not other. If form up to omniscience is not self-nature emptiness, then after understanding self-nature emptiness, there would be the fault of not being able to become a Buddha. Self-nature emptiness is not destroyed, nor is it permanent, nor is there a place to go. Otherwise, sentient beings in the world would not be liberated from the suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death because of ignorance and attachment to the aggregates. Therefore, the Bodhisattva should practice the perfection of self-nature emptiness, and should not disturb whether form up to omniscience is empty or non-empty. Why is that? Because self-nature emptiness is, this is form up to omniscience, this is form.
