And the binding, and the cutting off of the perceived delusions, is the meaning of summarizing. Among these, the first is the extended question and answer, and the desired realization. Among the two, the question and answer are: Then, the Blessed One said to Subhuti: Subhuti, for the Bodhisattvas, starting from the Prajnaparamita, generate courage to speak about the Dharma that will surely arise! In this regard, the retinue's thoughts arose, namely, the Bodhisattvas, the Hearers, and the sons of the gods, wondering whether Subhuti would teach by the power of courage, or whether the Buddha would teach by the power of the Buddha. Subhuti, by the power of the Buddha, knowing the thoughts in their minds, said to Sariputra: What do the Hearers say? The teacher is by the power of the Tathagata, not the realm of the Hearers. The Tathagata himself teaches sentient beings with skillful means. The desired realization is Subhuti's question: If I do not perceive or seek the Bodhisattva and the Prajnaparamita, what kind of designation is the term Bodhisattva? If I do not truly see accordingly, to whom shall I advise and accordingly teach? The Buddha said: The Prajnaparamita and the Bodhisattva are just names. That name is not even inside, nor outside, nor in both, and is not perceptible. For example, like the twelve agents, and the aggregates, elements, sense bases, the head and so on inside, and the grass and trees and so on outside, and the eight examples of illusion. When a Bodhisattva thus practices the Prajnaparamita, he does not truly see accordingly the aggregates, elements, sense bases, permanence, happiness, self, peace, emptiness, signs, aspirations, conditioned phenomena, all afflictions, birth, solitude, virtue, fault and defilement, afflictions, worldliness, and samsara. He does not truly see accordingly the opposites of these either. Why is that? When a Bodhisattva practices the Mother (Prajnaparamita), he does not conceptualize or discriminate all these dharmas. He meditates from the mindfulness to the unshared dharmas of the Buddha.

Therefore, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, understanding that the nature of all phenomena is neither completely defiled by afflictions nor completely purified, knowing them only as names and designations, one will not become attached to form up to omniscient knowledge, and one will perfect all the dharmas from generosity up to omniscient knowledge. The bodhisattva will fully attain the ground of being without fault and irreversible. Bodhisattvas, by practicing the Mother (Prajnaparamita), should understand names and designations. Cutting off the imputation of substance, which is called "not seeking a bodhisattva," is comparing the suchness of form up to old age and death in fives, thinking: Is form the bodhisattva? Or is something other than form the bodhisattva? Or does the bodhisattva exist in form? Or does form exist in the bodhisattva? Or is something without form the bodhisattva? Answer: Blessed One, it is not so. Why is that? If there is no bodhisattva and it is not found, how could form and the suchness of form become a bodhisattva? Cutting off the imputation of designation, which is called "the term 'bodhisattva,' what kind of verbal designation is it?" thinking: Is it a verbal designation of form, and the suchness of form, and permanence, and impermanence, and happiness, and suffering, and self, and selflessness, and peace, and non-peace? Answer: Blessed One, it is not so. If the five aggregates, permanence and impermanence, etc., are completely non-existent and not found, how could they become a bodhisattva? Cutting off the imputation of seeing, which is called "if one does not truly see the bodhisattva," is that the element of dharma does not truly see the element of dharma, the element of form does not truly see the element of dharma. Likewise, the aggregates, elements, and sense bases. The instruction on the path of meditation is that the element of conditioned things does not truly see the element of unconditioned things. From form up to omniscient knowledge, one does not truly see. A person who speaks thus without fear, that itself is the instruction, it is the subsequent teaching. Subhuti.
