That is, songs and tantras, because they are well connected and perfectly round. The space between the shoulders is the chest. Because it is broad in this, it is one with a broad chest. With this, the skin is golden, the skin is thin, each hair curls to the right, the cheek is marked with hair, the upper body is like a lion, the top of the arms is very round, and the chest is broad, these are the seven characteristics. In this, even what is not delicious appears as the best taste. The body is as wide as a banyan tree. The crown of the head rises upwards, the long tongue is beautiful, the voice of Brahma, the cheeks are like a lion, the teeth are extremely white and of equal size, arranged neatly, the number is forty complete, the eyes are dark blue, and the eyelashes are like a bull. These are the thirty-two marks. These two verses explain knowing the best taste, being as wide as a banyan tree, having a crown of hair, having a long and thin tongue, having the voice of Brahma, having cheeks like a lion, having white teeth, having even teeth, having neatly arranged teeth, having even teeth and forty complete, having dark blue eyes, and having eyelashes like a bull. These are the thirty-two marks. Because it has a collection of ten measures, it is forty complete, which means four times ten. When all are put together, these are thirty-two. The best of cows is the cow and the bull. Or, the best of cows refers to the head of the herd. The explanation of these, the cause, and the previous signs are, as stated in the sutra, the giving of dharma. Here, with whatever mark, with whatever cause it is accomplished, that and that are completely perfect, so these marks are truly accomplished. Also, what is the cause of what? Such as welcoming the lama, properly receiving and being stable, gathering, relying on, and being abundant, giving things and what is to be killed, liberating and virtuous things, properly receiving and increasing, etc., are the causes of accomplishment.

are its characteristics. The rest is as stated in the Sutra. It is said that by serving the lamas in their comings and goings, listening to the Dharma, offering flowers, going to stupas, etc., one possesses the marks of wheels on the hands and feet. Because of great steadfastness towards the chosen deity, the feet are very stable. By giving abundant food and drink, the hands and feet become soft and youthful, and the seven places are elevated. The words "to be killed" and "to be liberated" mean "etc." Those who were to be killed were liberated, lives were saved, and by abstaining from killing, all were practiced accordingly, hence the fingers are long, the heels are broad, and the body is tall and upright. Because virtuous Dharma was properly taken, increased, and not diminished, the ankles of the feet are not visible, and the body's hair grows upwards. "Etc." means like that, etc. "As in the Sutra" means that the Dharma is given as it will be explained. Because of doing the deeds of a great being, he is the Thus-Gone One. Bodhisattvas are great beings, and to clarify these, there are the thirty-two marks of a great being. To beautify these, there are eighty excellent signs. Regarding these, "The nails of the Buddha are copper-colored, the color is lustrous and high, and the fingers are round and full, slender and even, the veins are not visible, and there are no knots." This refers to the nails being copper-colored, the nails being lustrous, the nails being high, the nails being round, the fingers being full, the fingers being slender and even, the veins not being visible, and the veins having no knots, these eight excellent signs. Ankles not visible, feet even, like a lion, elephant, or bird, walking like a chief of cattle, facing right, walking beautifully, upright, with a graceful gait, like being wiped clean, in due order. This verse with one extra line refers to ankles not visible, feet being even, walking like a lion, walking like an elephant,
