That which is the letter that definitely indicates the meaning, to enter into that is certain. One who is skilled in the meaning of letters is indeed a possessor of knowledge. Whoever knows what to enter into, then he enters into that. That is also the collection of Dharani texts here. 'Not becoming obstructed by any sound' means that one seeks the ultimate meaning in all expressions. 'This' refers to sound. 'By equality, one will be able to accomplish correctly' means that one correctly unites in suchness. 'Skilled in knowing sound' means knowing the intention in all languages. The letter itself is the mudra, the meaning of the ultimate truth, the meaning of the collection of Dharani texts. Possessing propriety means following reason. Continuum is the stream of consciousness. Mindfulness is not forgetting correctly. Intelligence is following the ultimate meaning. Discrimination is the mind being focused and by whose power wisdom becomes swift. Intellect is the field of activity of the conventional. The remainder is easy to understand. That is the collection of Dharanis. 'The ten grounds' means that the collection of grounds is to be spoken of. What are they? The Joyful, the Immaculate, the Luminous, the Radiant, the Very Difficult to Subdue, the Manifest, the Gone Afar, the Immovable, the Good Intelligence, and the Cloud of Dharma. Because at first one obtains the ability to accomplish the benefit of oneself and others, one is exceedingly joyful, therefore it is the Joyful. Because here one is free from the stain of immoral conduct, it is the Immaculate. Because here there is no falling away from samadhi and it becomes a place of great light of Dharma, therefore it is the Luminous. Because here the aspects of enlightenment burn all obscurations, therefore it is the Radiant. Because the reasoning and the knowledge of happiness of the worldly and the transcendent are mutually contradictory, it is difficult to do, therefore here it is the Very Difficult to Subdue. Because here, through the detailed analysis of dependent origination, one abides in the perfection of wisdom, it is said to be the gate of non-attachment.

Because of manifestation, it is manifestation. Because here, in the aspects of enlightenment, truth, and dependent origination, it is the cause of effort dwelling on the aimless, therefore it is far-reaching. Because here it is unwavering from the entry of its own self and agent, therefore it is immovable. Because here, the Bodhisattva is excellent by the very fact that each perfectly knowing one teaches the great Dharma, therefore this is excellent wisdom. Because here the Bodhisattva is empowered as the regent of the Dharma, therefore this is the cloud of Dharma. Why is this called the Mahayana? Because by gradually transforming into those, enlightenment is attained. How does it transform? By skillful means. And what is that? It is truly relying on the two truths; relying on the conventional truth in order to completely purify, and relying on the ultimate truth in order to see all those as undifferentiated. The teaching and explanation of the order of complete purification have already been taught in the Sutra itself. The commentators have only summarized it briefly: 'By ten kinds of complete purification, the ground will be the first to be obtained,' this is the meaning of 'ten kinds of purification.' And what are those? 'Thought and the very object of benefit, equanimity towards sentient beings, giving and relying on spiritual friends, seeking the aim of the sacred Dharma, constantly the very mind of renunciation, joy in desiring the Buddha's form, teaching the Dharma and truthful, speech is considered the tenth.' Thus it is said, thought is faith and aspiration. The object of benefit is the very desire to benefit all sentient beings. Its cause is equanimity. Giving is the very perfection of giving. Seeking is complete seeking, and that is also aiming at the sacred Dharma and desiring to seek the Dharma, this is the term. Renunciation is renunciation of the household life. Thinking of renunciation is the very desire for that. Joy is to be combined here with 'constantly.' 'Truthful speech' means speaking truthfully, that is the ten. These

As I do not objectify, it should be known as purification. These, so-called, are thoughts and so on. Practicing discipline, guarding and enduring, extreme joy and great compassion, respectfully listening, the eighth is diligence in giving and so on. As it is said, discipline is the very nature of complete purity of discipline. Endurance is the power of endurance. The very nature of extreme joy is extreme joy. Great compassion is not abandoning all sentient beings. Respect is for those who deserve respect. Respectfully listening to the Lama is to regard the virtuous friend as a teacher. Giving and so on, refers to the perfections and so on. Saying the eighth, the second purification is only eight. Not being satisfied with listening, giving Dharma without material possessions, purifying all Buddha-fields, not being weary of Samsara, and having shame, the self-nature without pride, these five. As it is said, so-called listening, is much listening. Complete purification is because that merit is completely dedicated. The so-called self-nature without pride is because there is no satisfaction with it. Those five, the third purification is only five. Living in the forest, having few desires, being content, practicing the true discipline, not abandoning the training, denouncing desires, renouncing and abandoning all possessions, not being timid and having no attachment. As it is said, living in the forest is dwelling in a solitary place, because it is its fruit. Contentment is being content with everything. Practicing true discipline is not abandoning it. Renouncing and abandoning all possessions, as it is said, is generating renunciation and completely abandoning all possessions. Not being timid and having no attachment, as it is said, is the very nature of not being timid in mind and the very nature of not having attachment to all things, not being timid is the very nature of not being afraid. The so-called ten, which appear from the following text, should also be added here. Therefore, the fourth purification is only ten. Closeness and attachment to home, and places that have become noisy, praising oneself and disparaging others, and the ten paths of unwholesome actions, being filled with pride and
