Therefore, whatever mind is shown is called 'focus.' What is non-shrinking? It is not abandoning focus and not shrinking to other things, because its nature is wavering. Non-fear is being gathered in that focus. On the other hand, not shrinking is because its nature is vast. The so-called 'mind not being afraid' means that the mind is not wavering and gathered, and contrary to this, it will be afraid, which in order are shrinking and agitation. Among them, shrinking is the mind being disheartened, that is, dull. Agitation is remembering the object to be craved, becoming a part of desire, which is a near affliction. In order to pacify these, the mind will not be distracted outwards. It is said, 'In order to see the merits of samadhi, do not rejoice in it, but pacify it. In order to see the faults of distraction, also pacify agitation.' If effort is abandoned, one will think, 'These will also exist here,' and the fear arising from abandonment is fear, and stopping it through effort is non-fear. Effort, fabrication, and diligence are synonyms. After that, abandoning the naturally accomplished entry, being afraid of fabrication is dread. Therefore, one will not be afraid of abandoning fabrication. One will not be afraid even of the deeply naturally accomplished samadhi, and merely through these, it is shown that the naturally non-elaborate samadhi is completely accomplished. Therefore, it is said, 'The Bodhisattva acts in this way,' and so on. After these brief words, Shariputra sequentially or together repeated and asked the reasons, among which the first, second, eleventh, and twelfth were asked sequentially. The third and fourth were asked together. The fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth were also asked together. After these, the questions were repeated sequentially. Subhuti answered these twelve questions in detail, the first of which is no sentient being. Venerable, you say 'there is another' and so on to anything, and for all the questions such as the second, the first is to repeat.

It is recited and finally concluded. In the extensive conclusion of the twelfth chapter, it is said that when practicing Prajñāpāramitā, it is said like this. Therefore, practicing it in this way is following the Dharma, that is, not focusing on form, etc., with form, etc., not dwelling, not clinging, and not binding, as it is said. Those meanings, in order, cannot be known by self-awareness, because there is no self-nature. It does not appear, because there is no object to be grasped and no grasper, so it does not appear. It is not realized by the ultimate truth, and it is not even distinguished by mere discrimination. Those aspects are the aforementioned form, etc. Why can't it be known? Because it does not exist, because it is not born, and because it does not cease. Whatever is form, etc., those all belong to the number of non-duality, it is said, referring to the form, etc., of Dharmata. That is the definite arising of attainment. Because it is the object of expression of the all-knowingness, therefore, Shariputra asked what is a Bodhisattva? What is Prajñāpāramitā? What is complete investigation? He wondered what those three are like for the all-knowingness. Mañjuśrī replied, a Bodhisattva of the nature of Bodhi is a Bodhisattva. Bodhi also knows the aspects of all dharmas, but there is no clinging. The form, etc., of Dharma. Regarding what kind of aspect, etc., aspect is the indication. Sign is the name and symbol. Characteristic is the nature. Separated and far away, therefore it is called Prajñāpāramitā, because it has abandoned all that should be abandoned, so it is separated, that is, not corresponding. Because it has passed, so it is gone, that is, the meaning of transcendence of the object to be practiced. Because it has reached the other shore and has passed away, so it is far away, therefore this is Prajñāpāramitā. How is it completely investigated? Whatever form is not permanent, and not impermanent, thus completely investigating, etc.

O! To explain the ascertainment of the path, Shariputra, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva purify the path to enlightenment when practicing the six perfections? To introduce this topic, terms such as "Venerable" are mentioned, which are easy to understand. These are the eight practices of ascertainment, and also the completion of all-knowingness. Here, first, the generation of Bodhicitta is pointed out, because it is the seed of perfect enlightenment. Then, the instructions are for completely understanding the ten things that should be completely understood first. Then, those that are in accordance with the division of ascertainment are because they are the application of the path that transcends the world. Then, the support is the support of practice, because it abandons self-grasping. Then, the object is to abandon ignorance about it. Then, the purpose is to abandon the wrong intention and to understand the nature of the correct intention. Then, there are four practices: among them, that which cuts off all obstacles to practice is the six armor practices. That which enables one to ascend to the Great Vehicle is the nine entering practices. That which enables one to obtain the ultimate of the cause is the seventeen accumulation practices. That which suppresses with the ultimate of the result is the eight ascertainment practices. Therefore, these four are practices. If classified in detail, they become forty. The commentary on the Ornament for Clear Realization, called "Complete," composed by Ratnakara Shanti, is the first chapter, the chapter on all-knowingness. Chapter One: Commentary on All-Knowingness.
