It is also called quiescence. The cessation of perception and feeling is also in accordance with liberation and abides accordingly. Relying on the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, the mind and mental factors are ceased. Because its obscurations are abandoned, it is liberation, also called quiescence. The so-called nine successive abidings are the four dhyanas, the four formless absorptions, and the cessation of perception and feeling. The ten powers of the Tathagata are the power of knowing what is possible and impossible, the power of knowing the maturation of karma, the power of knowing various realms, the power of knowing various inclinations, the power of knowing the superior and inferior faculties, the power of knowing the path leading everywhere, the power of knowing the defilement, purification, and arising of dhyana, liberation, samadhi, and samapatti, the power of knowing past lives, the power of knowing death and birth, and the power of knowing the exhaustion of defilements. Their characteristics are as described in the order of the sutras. The so-called 'knowing well that what is possible is possible, and what is impossible is impossible' means that the undesirable results arising from misdeeds are possible, and desirable results are impossible. The desirable results arising from good deeds are possible, and undesirable results are impossible. Stinginess leading to poverty is possible, and having great wealth is impossible. Giving leading to having great wealth is possible, and becoming poor is impossible. The evil conduct of unchastity leading to falling into the lower realms is possible, and obtaining happiness is impossible. The good conduct of morality leading to being born in the higher realms is possible, and falling into the lower realms is impossible. Thus, knowing well what is possible and impossible means knowing their reality as it is with pure, unattached, and unobstructed wisdom, without inversion. Therefore, it is called purity. Repeating 'what and what is correct' is to show that there is no attachment. The so-called 'in what and what way is it correct' is because of knowing all aspects.

It has been shown that there is no absence. That wisdom itself is power, because it is constantly not overcome by others, and constantly overwhelms others. The so-called "past" and so on, here the so-called place and cause, means together with place and cause. In whatever direction its function is, that is the place. Whatever cause of the Hearers and so on, that is its function, that is, together with the continuum. The result is happiness and suffering and so on. The so-called "various realms" means what is taught. The so-called "many realms" means following what is taught. Realm means superior intention, which generates merit and non-merit and immovable actions and so on. The so-called "various aspirations", here desire is aspiration. For example, one who abides in desire also aspires to hatred, and one who abides in hatred also aspires to desire, and so on. The so-called "order of faculties" refers to the distinctiveness of the faculties such as faith, that is, this is a dull faculty, this is a medium faculty, this is a sharp faculty, this is a faculty without faculties, and so on. The so-called "knowing all paths" means that here the Bodhisattva knows the realms of sentient beings, determining whether they are real or uncertain, that is, knowing and showing the path that is in accordance with them, and determining that it is inverted, that is, abandoning and abandoning in accordance with abandonment. This is the path that becomes the antidote to desire, this is the path that becomes the antidote to hatred, and so on. Regarding the defilement, purification and emergence from meditation, liberation, samadhi and absorption: Meditation is the fourth meditation. Liberation is the eight liberations. Samadhi is of three types, with investigation and with analysis, and so on. Absorption is the four formless absorptions and the nine successive absorptions of successive abiding. Regarding defilement and so on, defilement means tasting. Purification means signlessness and so on. Emergence from meditation means the lion's leap or sudden transcendence. The remaining three are as stated in the sutra. What is reasonably proclaimed as extremely fearless like a lion is fearlessness, its object or action is that itself.
