The ultimate limit is the four dhyanas, the four formless absorptions, and what is called the cessation absorption. That is the first going, from "Subhuti, what is the samadhi of transcendence of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva?" to what is said between "having realized and abiding in the cessation of perception and feeling." If you ask how it is considered to have gone nine times, it is one including cessation, two, three, four, five, six, seven, and eight between the stages of transcendence. The consciousness belonging to the desire realm holds the boundary of non-absorption. This means that it goes to the ultimate end of the mind that has not entered into samadhi. That is the second going, from "having arisen from the cessation absorption, he enters into the first dhyana" to what is said between "having arisen from the cessation absorption, he abides in the mind that has not entered into samadhi." Here, each of the eight absorptions is entered into after cessation, and the ninth cannot be entered into, because it is impossible to arise from cessation into cessation. Therefore, due to proximity and force, one first enters into the absorption of neither perception nor non-perception, and then arises from there, enters into cessation, and having arisen from there, abides in the mind that has not entered into samadhi, which is considered to have gone twice, and is complete. The so-called "coming" is returning from where one has gone and abided in the mind that has not entered into samadhi, which itself is the nine absorptions. If you ask what it has become, it becomes going differently, which is going in different ways, meaning that it has transformed from non-absorption to non-absorption, and from absorption to non-absorption. For this word "coming," also add "the consciousness belonging to the desire realm holds the boundary of non-absorption." Therefore, having arisen from the first dhyana, he abides in the mind that has not entered into samadhi. Having gone twice in this way, one returns once, which is having arisen from the mind that has not entered into samadhi, he enters into cessation, having arisen from the first dhyana
