Therefore, (the Buddha) declared the content up to "because it is without discrimination and without various discriminations, it should be accepted." Among the so-called "thirty-seven factors of enlightenment," the "enlightenment" here refers to the enlightenment of perfect and complete awakening, so it is unique. After explaining the object of practice, what should be done for that purpose will be explained. At that time, starting from "Subhūti's question," it means, how is that Bodhisattva called a "Mahāsattva"? The Blessed One taught, "The foremost of the great mass of beings," and so on. The thought of wanting to be the foremost of the great mass of beings is what is meant by mind here, because common words are also used to express particularities. Because one possesses the great mind of the three great things, one is a "Mahāsattva." What are the three great things? They are the great mind itself, the great renunciation itself, and the great realization itself, as stated in the sutra. Among them, the great mind, the Blessed One declared "the mind like a vajra," and so on. Then, in order to abandon all views, what is explained is the great renunciation, which was asked by Śāriputra. Then, even without attachment to the Bodhicitta and so on, that itself is the great realization, which Subhūti has already explained before the words of many noble ones. Therefore, "All beings are supreme, mind and renunciation, Realization these three, The self-arising of the three great ones, This is what should be done for this purpose." Thus it is said, meaning that this is (what) Bodhisattvas (do). Because it is a special effort, it is "what should be done for this purpose," that is, practice. It should be known that this is what should be done for the practice of self-arising. What is the most supreme of all beings? It should be accomplished through the three great things. What are the three great things? They are mind, renunciation, and realization itself. Therefore, because it is related to them, it is also great. Therefore, that which is a hero is also great. Therefore, it is called "Mahāsattva." After explaining the basis of practice, the object, and what should be done for this purpose, the practice itself will be explained.

Therefore, the abbot Gangbo explained the stages of donning armor and entering into practice. The mind of donning great armor is the great hero, which is an obscure summary of the intermediate words. This is the first. Truly entering the Mahayana and truly abiding in the Mahayana is the great hero, this is the second. Armor is donned by gathering everything together, just as an army gathers to don armor. In each (step), everything is closely connected, this is the great armor. The venerable Shariputra stated beginning with "how much" and so on. The venerable Gangbo explained from "in this" and so on, until "therefore thus" and so on. Here, abiding in generosity and so on, means abiding in a non-abiding way, because one sees actions and actors as illusory. These explain the close abiding in the Prajnaparamita. Acting for the sake of enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings refers to the meaning of acting with the mind possessing all-knowingness. Therefore, these three reveal the close abiding. For example, not acting with the intention of the Shravakas and so on, completely abandoning, this is the Paramita of discipline. Whoever acts with the intention of all-knowingness, the patience, desire, and close practice of those (intentions) are characterized by faith, joy, and respect, this is the Paramita of patience. Whoever has a stable mind towards those (intentions) and does not distinguish the occasions of the intentions of the Shravakas and so on, this is the Paramita of meditation. Therefore, I also want to perfect the Paramitas, and I also want to establish all sentient beings in those (Paramitas). The intention is to dedicate together with all sentient beings. Regarding this, this reveals two kinds of close abiding. For example, by the nature of being common with all sentient beings, giving the Paramitas to all sentient beings is the Paramita of generosity. Regarding this, being delighted with great generosity is the Paramita of diligence. "Only this much" refers to the general characteristic.
