Furthermore, the dedication to perfect enlightenment, the rejoicing in it, and the dedication in that manner are the dedications permitted by all Buddhas. The sutra begins with "Furthermore" and extends to "dedicating to unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment." That which does not belong to all three realms, similarly, does not belong to all dharmas. It is not past, not future, nor present. If it is devoid of substance, that which is devoid of substance cannot be dedicated by that which is devoid of substance, which is the dedication that does not belong to the three realms. The other three dedications are the nature of great merit, which are of three types: small, medium, and large. The sutra begins with "Then, the Bhagavan" and extends to "unsurpassed." The principle of no characteristics, the principle of no object of focus, the suchness that is not other, is the principle of non-attachment. The merit dedicated by that, if beings in the three-thousandfold great thousand world obtain the ten virtues, the four dhyanas, the four immeasurables, the four formless absorptions, and the five superknowledges, from the chief of merit to "unsurpassed," is the small dedication that produces great merit. The sutra begins with "Subhuti, furthermore" and extends to "the merit dedicated by the non-attached dedication increases greatly." If all beings in the three-thousandfold great thousand world become Pratyekabuddhas, and among them, if someone serves and honors them with all necessities for as long as they live, compared to that, the merit dedicated by the non-attached dedication increases greatly, up to "the merit dedicated by the non-attached dedication increases greatly," is the medium dedication that produces great merit. The sutra begins with "Furthermore, Subhuti" and extends to "reverently offered." If all beings in the three-thousandfold great thousand world

When all beings become Bodhisattvas, for those in each of the ten directions, there are sentient beings in worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River. They offer all necessities and happiness to each Bodhisattva for as many eons as there are sands in the Ganges River. Those merits, even one percent of the merits of dedicating without attachment, are not close, and even cannot be compared. This is the great dedication that produces great merit. If the sentient beings of the three-thousand-great-thousand world system all become Bodhisattvas, the accumulation of merit arising from those dedications with attachment is not even close to one percent of the merit of the dedication of one Bodhisattva without attachment, and cannot even be compared. Those are what were said from "the Four Great Kings" and so on, up to "the unsurpassed." Having thus explained the mind-training of dedication, next, the mind-training of rejoicing will be explained. In that, the sutra begins from "Then, the Venerable Subhuti" and goes up to "Then, the son of the Venerable Sharadvati." Its meaning is: With skillful means and non-attachment, rejoicing in the roots of virtue, the mind-training of rejoicing, is said here to be cultivation. Thus it is said, that rejoicing in the roots of virtue with skillful means and non-attachment, that is the mind-training of rejoicing, which is cultivation here. Therefore, there are two ways: rejoicing in the way of non-attachment is not taking or abandoning those roots of virtue, and thus, after I rejoice, I dedicate it to the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, up to this point. Rejoicing in the way of skillful means is for those who are newly entering the path, like liberation, for such roots of virtue, and such Buddhas, and all such dharmas, just as I rejoice, I also dedicate it to perfect and complete enlightenment.
