In order, in the excellent place, proclaim the true lion's roar with vows. Turn the wheel of Brahma. Brahma is the Tathagata, because it transcends all worlds. It is of those Brahmas. Or Brahma is liberation, for the sake of that meaning it is of Brahma. For the benefit of beings, it is said to be a wheel, which is the so-called Dharma wheel. The twelve scriptures of the Tathagatas are the Dharma. All that is to be expressed is the meaning. The collection of names of those scriptures themselves and the definite words of various forms are the definitive words. Or, all the Dharma of cause is Dharma. All the Dharma of effect is meaning. All the languages of all sentient beings belonging to the six realms are definitive words, and understanding them separately is, in order, understanding Dharma separately, understanding meaning separately, and understanding definitive words separately. In order to indicate other Dharmas, etc., the manifestation of correctly understanding Dharma, etc., separately is fearlessness, which is both it and correct understanding separately, therefore it is fearless correct understanding separately. In order to practice without mixing, the unmixed Dharmas, etc., means being different from others. That is also eighteen kinds, as said in the sutra. Among them, the first is the karma of body, the second is the karma of speech, and then four are the karma of mind completely purified. Then six are the basis of the Tathagata's freedom and have fruit, because there is no complete loss of what has not been obtained. Among them, the basis is intention. The fruit is liberation. Freedom is diligence, etc. Then three are because wisdom abides in the karma of body, etc., it is the cause of wisdom, and it acts together with wisdom. Then wisdom enters without attachment or obstruction to the three times, therefore there are three, and those six together become eighteen. The so-called no confusion means that, like this, when Arhats walk in villages, etc. for the sake of merit, dangers such as elephants, cows, fierce dogs, thorns, scorpions, snakes, etc. will occur.

Moreover, or in monasteries, fears such as those from thieves and tigers, the Tathagata does not possess at all, because of always being rightly awakened. The so-called "without clamor" is like how Arhats, after getting lost in monasteries, emit sounds of clamor, and due to the influence of habitual tendencies, emit laughter and horse-like neighs; the Buddha does not possess such things, because of always being in meditative equipoise. The so-called "without forgetfulness" is like how Arhats lose affairs due to forgetfulness, or miss opportunities; the Buddha does not possess such things, because of possessing great compassion. The so-called "without non-absorption" means that Arhats are in meditative equipoise only when they are in absorption, and not when they are not in absorption. But the Buddha is not like that, because of always being in meditative equipoise. The so-called "without different perceptions" is like how Arhats hold inconsistent perceptions about the aggregates, and hold peaceful perceptions about Nirvana; but the Buddha is not like that, because of not discriminating between the two. The so-called "without unexamined abandonment" is like how Arhats abandon the benefit of sentient beings without examination; but the Buddha is not like that, because he abandons only after examining factors such as time, otherwise not. The so-called "without diminished aspiration" and so on, Arhats do not generate aspiration and so on for the state of Buddhahood and the activities of the Buddha; therefore, they are completely diminished by completely diminishing what they have not obtained from these. But the Buddha is not like that, because he does not lack excellent qualities not obtained from these, and those that have been obtained are always permanent. The rest is easy to understand. This is the collection of paths. Now, the collection of Dharanis will be explained, wherein "regarding the doors of Dharanis," there are four Dharanis: the Dharani of Patience, the Dharani of Dharma, the Dharani of Meaning, and the Dharani of Secret Mantras. The doors of these are the letters. Through the power of definitely contemplating the letters, these will arise. One word contains many meanings, just as the fruit is close to the cause.
