And also thoroughly knowing what is not a place, namely, the unpleasant ripening from misdeeds is a place, and the pleasant is not a place. From good deeds, the pleasant is a place, and the unpleasant is not a place. Stinginess leading to poverty is a place, and great enjoyment is not a place. Giving rise to great enjoyment is a place, and becoming poor is not a place. Immoral discipline leading to birth in the lower realms is a place, and happiness is not a place. Discipline leading to birth in the higher realms is a place, and the lower realms are not a place. Like this, thoroughly knowing places and non-places is, with pure, unattached, and unobstructed wisdom, knowing things as they truly are for that very reason, which is non-reversed. Therefore, it is called purity itself. Repeating "what and what is correct" is to show non-attachment. Saying what kind and what kind is correct is to show unobstructedness because of knowing all aspects. That wisdom itself is power, because it can never be overcome by other things and can always overwhelm other things. In "passed away" and so on, here "place and cause" means associated with place and cause. In whatever direction its activity takes place, that is the place. The cause of whatever, such as the Hearers, is its activity, that is, associated with the lineage. Ripening means happiness and suffering, and so on. "Various realms" means what is taught. "Multiple realms" means what is taught accordingly. Realm means higher intention, that is, what generates merit and non-merit and immovability, and so on. "Various inclinations" means that here desire is inclination. For example, abiding in attachment also inclines towards hatred, and abiding in hatred also inclines towards attachment, and so on. "The order of faculties" means the differences in faculties such as faith. This is dull faculty, medium faculty, sharp faculty, no faculty, and so on. "Knowing the path of going everywhere" means that here the Bodhisattva knows whether the true nature of sentient beings is definite or indefinite, which is knowing and showing the path that is in accordance with them,

To be certain that it is a wrong path, one should treat it with equanimity in accordance with how equanimity should be practiced. This is the path that is the antidote to desire. This is the path that is the antidote to hatred, and so forth. Regarding the defilement, purification, and arising of dhyana, liberation, samadhi, and samapatti, There are four dhyanas. There are eight liberations. There are three samadhis, namely, with investigation and with analysis, and so forth. There are four formless samapattis and nine serial abidings of samapatti. Regarding defilement and so forth, defilement is tasting. Purification is non-attention and so forth. Arising is the lion's leap or transcendence. The remaining three are as stated in the sutras. What is reasonably stated as being utterly fearless like a lion is fearlessness, and its entity or action is that itself. There are four kinds of fearlessness, namely, fearlessness of manifest complete enlightenment, fearlessness of the exhaustion of defilements, fearlessness of obstructing dharmas, and fearlessness of the path that leads to liberation. Regarding manifest complete enlightenment and so forth, fearlessness refers to the meaning of vowing and rejoicing there. The first two are the characteristics of wisdom and abandonment, which are for one's own benefit. The latter two are for the benefit of others, because they are taught to others. The extensive characteristics are as stated in the sutras. Here, the mention of shramanas and brahmins is for the sake of generating pride in wisdom. The mention of gods and demons is for the sake of perfecting the divine eye and knowledge of others' minds. Brahma is mentioned because of the greatness of his power and so forth. Saying "not seeing that cause" refers to the faults caused by the causes that have been overcome by them. Obtaining happiness, obtaining freedom from anxiety, and obtaining fearlessness refer to the purification of the actions of body and so forth in order, that is, being free from hair standing on end, adornment, and so forth, speech without timidity, inferiority, and so forth, and doubt and timidity in the mind and so forth. Therefore,
