The establishment of the four mindfulnesses is divided into four types according to the difference of the object of focus: mindfulness of the body, mindfulness of feelings, mindfulness of the mind, and mindfulness of phenomena. Among them, abiding by observing the body in the inner body, without focusing, one does not discriminate with the conceptual thoughts associated with the body. Observing the body in the outer body is also the same. Observing the body in both the inner and outer bodies is also the same. Regarding the inner, outer, and inner-outer feelings, mind, and phenomena, from abiding by observing feelings to observing phenomena, one observes phenomena without focusing, being diligent, having clear awareness, and being mindful, eliminating worldly desires and sorrows, and even if one observes, one does not discriminate with the conceptual thoughts associated with phenomena. Among them, the inner body refers to one's own six sense bases such as the eyes. The outer body refers to conditioned phenomena outside of one's own body. The inner-outer body refers to the remaining four great elements that have become part of one's own body and the things made from the four great elements. The three aspects of feelings and so on are also the same. By the act of observing the three types of bodies. Feelings refer to pleasant feelings, painful feelings, and neither painful nor pleasant feelings. Phenomena refer to the virtuous and non-virtuous that arise from the mind. So-called observing the body and so on refers to observing the nature of the body and so on. So-called being associated with the body and so on refers to being associated with the perception of the body and so on. So-called conceptual thought refers to discrimination. Without focusing, one does not see or discriminate such things as "this body is unique," "my body," "permanent," "impermanent," "pleasure," "suffering," and so on. Possessing diligence with reverence and constancy. Following observation and possessing clear awareness is possessing clear awareness. Protecting with the nature of not forgetting, and being connected with non-distracted mindfulness is possessing mindfulness. Effort, wisdom, and mindfulness, the benefit of these is said to be the elimination of worldly desires and sorrows. So-called elimination refers to

Giving up. Regarding worldly dharmas such as gain, fame, happiness, praise, etc., it is greed and attachment. Regarding not gaining, being unknown, suffering, blame, etc., it is displeasure. Thus, in the conduct of a Bodhisattva, it is taught to abide in mindfulness, and then in the conduct of a Shravaka, fourteen methods of abiding in mindfulness of the body are taught. Among them, there are three ways through mindfulness: long exhalation and short exhalation, etc., this is the first. Short exhalation, etc., this is the second. Remembering exhalation and inhalation, this is the third. From the perspective of element differentiation, it is the fourth. From the perspective of the thirty-six impure substances, it is the fifth. From the perspective of the unpleasant, it is the ninth. Among them, the so-called "manifestation" refers to walking. The so-called "non-returning" refers to returning. The so-called "pervasive view" refers to the front. The so-called "discriminating view" refers to all directions. The so-called "contraction" refers to gathering. The so-called "innerly truly abiding" refers to shamatha-vipassana and diligence. Because of having this mindfulness, it is having mindfulness. The breath of the body enters from the nostrils, it is inhalation. Exhalation is exhaling outwards, like a well-trained potter or his attendant disciple. Skin and peeling are from the distinction of inner and outer. Tendons are veins. Kidney is kidney. Liver is liver. Lung is lung. Spleen is spleen. Digested and undigested are food. The ashes of saliva are lumps of phlegm. Blood is rotten blood. Chunpa is plowing. Bada is the container of grains. The so-called cemetery refers to the teaching. The so-called place of abandoning the corpse refers to the subsequent teaching. The so-called one day after death, etc., refers to the three types such as swelling in order. Whatever is swollen is eaten by insects, because worms are born. Or, what is eaten is scattered. Therefore, when seeing the corpse in the cemetery, one will associate oneself with being the same as it. The so-called "this Dharma nature" refers to the teaching. The so-called "having such a nature" refers to the subsequent teaching. Then, is the living body not like that?
