Desiring to attain through meditation, desiring to attain without meditation, hence there is no meditation; desiring to attain through both meditation and non-meditation, hence both are possible; desiring to attain neither through meditation nor through non-meditation, hence neither is possible; holding onto what is not the true meaning due to engaging in inverted actions. Thus, the second aspect of grasping, the object of the mind and mental factors arising in the path of meditation, has nine aspects. After that, the first aspect of grasping is explained: The realm of beings imputed, the imputed Dharma and non-emptiness, attachment and various differentiated self-natures, acting as entities and the Three Vehicles, qualities that are not pure, actions that are completely confused, the grasper is the first, this is proclaimed to be known. Thus it is said. Because it does not arise as a substance, it is imputed as sentient beings; because it is merely an appearance, it is imputed as forms and other dharmas; although individuals and dharmas are empty of other things, they abide in their own nature, hence they are not empty; attaching to the path through the gate of focusing and not focusing on them; differentiating forms and other things through their individual and general characteristics; as said before, not doing what should be done, doing what should not be done, hence being inferior; because forms and other things are not focused on, definitely departing through the Three Vehicles; because of not truly entering, qualities are not pure; grasping onto the existence of a person whose actions are completely confused because of focusing on the three circles in giving and other practices. Thus, the first aspect of grasping should be known as the object of the preparatory stage of the path of meditation, having nine aspects. After that, the second aspect of grasping is briefly stated: Sentient beings imputed and their cause, the object is destroyed by that, related to the path of meditation, other opposing factors have nine aspects. Thus it is said. Imputed as ordinary beings and noble ones, the cause of establishing them in various ways, the object of clinging to the stream of aggregates gathered by ignorance and wisdom, is what should be truly destroyed by the path of meditation, that is, that path.

The second kind of conceptualization that clings to what is incompatible with the (right) path has nine aspects. How are they nine? In the intermediate verse, it is said: The three omniscient ones, their nature obscures the three veils as they are, the peaceful path, suchness, etc., having and not having, and inequality, suffering, etc., and the nature of afflictions, completely bewildered in non-duality, conceptualization is established as the last. What does this mean? Because one does not fully understand all aspects, one is completely bewildered by the obscuration of all-knowingness; because one does not fully understand all paths, one is obscured by the knowledge of the path; because one does not fully understand all bases, one is obscured by the knowledge of all bases; because one does not fully understand the Prajnaparamita, one is obscured by the path of all peace; because one does not fully understand form, etc., and suchness, one is bewildered by suchness, etc., having and not having; because one does not fully understand the nature of demons, etc., one is bewildered by inequality; because one clings to the literal meaning of words, one is bewildered by the truth of suffering, etc.; because one does not fully understand that the nature of desire, etc., is temporary, one is bewildered by the nature of afflictions; because one does not fully understand the characteristics of the apprehended and the apprehender, one is completely bewildered by non-duality. Therefore, the final conceptualization of clinging refers to the mind and mental factors of the path of meditation, having nine kinds of objects. Therefore, by merely distinguishing the four incompatible aspects of the path of meditation, one should also understand the differences of the four antidotes. Thus, the four conceptualizations of the apprehended and the apprehender, each having nine aspects, By distinguishing the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm, one abandons one hundred and eight conceptualizations, and through the Dharma nature of dependent origination, one is freed from one hundred and eight habitual tendencies of afflictions contained by these conceptualizations. Therefore, by abandoning what is done by the path of meditation, it is declared in the ultimate purity: These plagues have all been exhausted, just like breathing out after a long time, accomplishing all forms of, the perfection of blissful qualities.
