The meaning of not doing is the profound Suchness; knowing its own nature, all dharmas such as giving are practiced accordingly, which is the profound knowable; seeing is not seeing with the self-nature of Suchness, which is the profound knowing; the action of no real meaning is the action, which is the profound action; all dharmas prove the self-nature of non-duality, which is the profound non-duality; not abandoning liberation and other samadhis, making all sentient beings mature, and perfecting all accumulations, the result of which is that Buddhahood is also unattainable, which is the profound skillful means. By obtaining the inconceivable gate of liberation, truly realizing the meaning of accomplishing mutual contradiction, it is extremely difficult to understand, so there are eight kinds of profoundness. By studying the irreversible Dharma, one must obtain the result of Buddhahood, so it is said that its uncommon cause is the equality of samsara and nirvana. Because all dharmas are like dreams, there is no thought of existence or non-existence, and the answers to debates such as no karma are just as stated. Because all unfavorable and favorable dharmas are meditated upon as if they were images, it is understood that samsara and nirvana are like dreams, so there is no distinction between the two, which is equality. If it is like a dream, then even when not asleep, there will be no non-virtue and giving, etc.? The answer to such debates is that, as the heretics claim that there is a real external world, although there is no real meaning of who kills whom, etc., they understand killing, etc., by generating things that contradict the life force, and thus establish killing, etc. Thus, although things are like dreams, for those who have not cut off all inverted attachments, there will be manifestations of attachment to things, etc., that correspond to them. In addition, the appearance of practicing good and non-good in dreams will also be nourished by the attachment of the mind at that time.
