And, because of constantly abiding in Samadhi, having mindfulness and awareness, and because of constantly practicing pure conduct, clothes and so on are completely pure, these are called eleven aspects, which are the signs of non-retrogression because of abiding in the stage of warmth. Because the roots of virtue are not mixed with the world, eighty thousand kinds of insects do not arise on the body, and because the attention is completely pure, there is no distracted mind, and because of not craving for gain and respect, etc., holding a duster, wearing the three Dharma robes, wearing felt clothes, begging for food, sitting on one seat, not accepting things afterwards, living in a secluded place, living under a tree, living in a cemetery, living under a tree, living in a place without shelter, these are called twelve qualities of practice, truly upholding them, and through accomplishing the distinctions of giving and so on, without stinginess and so on that are contrary to them, and because of truly gathering all dharmas, not contradicting the nature of reality, having the Prajnaparamita, and because of taking beings as one's own, even entering hell for the sake of others, these are called six aspects, which are the signs of non-retrogression because of abiding in the peak stage. Because of the nature of having faith in realization, not being able to be transformed into something else by others, and because of being skilled in the Buddha's skillful means and wisdom, recognizing the demons who disguise the path as the path as demons themselves, these are called two aspects, which are the signs of non-retrogression because of abiding in the stage of patience. Because the Prajnaparamita is inseparable from attention, pleasing the Buddhas from the actions, this is called one aspect, which is the sign of non-retrogression because of abiding in the highest worldly Dharma stage. Therefore, the signs of a Bodhisattva abiding in the stages of warmth and so on, the parts of ascertainment, not retrogressing from complete enlightenment, should be understood as these twenty aspects. Corresponding to the parts of ascertainment, from obtaining non-retrogression, the non-retrogression of the path of seeing arises, therefore, its signs are stated in one verse in the middle: The patience on the path of seeing, And the sixteen moments of knowledge, Are the characteristics, Of a non-retrogressing Bodhisattva.

It should be known as such. This is what it means. The sixteen moments of forbearance and knowledge of the Dharma and subsequent Dharma in the four truths of suffering, etc., are the characteristics of non-retrogression for bodhisattvas who abide on the path of seeing. What are the sixteen aspects of the moment? As stated in the five intermediate verses: The reversal of form, etc., the aggregates of consciousness; the steadfastness of mind; the transformation from inferior vehicles; the complete exhaustion of the limbs of meditation, etc.; lightness of body and mind; skillfulness in the practice of desire; constant pure conduct; purity of livelihood; all the obstructing phenomena such as aggregates; and the war against stinginess, etc., held by the aggregates and freedoms, etc., the combination and subsequent combination of, individually preventing dwelling, the Dharma does not contemplate a particle, certainty in one's own ground, dwelling in the three grounds, giving up life for the sake of the Dharma, such sixteen moments, the wise abide in the path of seeing, are signs of non-retrogression. Thus it is said. By the emptiness of one's own nature, the clinging to the characteristics of form, etc., even the subtlest is reversed, by the blessing of the Buddhas, etc., the mind is steadfast in unsurpassed Bodhi, by practicing the excellent Dharma of the Mahayana, the mind is liberated from the inferior vehicles such as the Hearers, by the power of being good at distinguishing all Dharmas, the limbs of arising in meditation and formless samadhi, etc., are completely exhausted, these four are the aspects of the truth of suffering. By being separated from the unwholesome, body and mind are light and comfortable, by the means of being skilled in taming sentient beings, approaching desire without manifest attachment, by seeing the faults of all realms, constantly practicing pure conduct, by the Dharma nature of the supreme person, not making predictions of inferior things, etc., therefore the means of livelihood are pure, these four are the aspects of the truth of origin. By abiding in emptiness, the combination and subsequent combination of the aggregates, places, and realms, individually preventing dwelling, by eliminating incompatible categories, the obstacle of realization
