As for the birthplaces such as the realm of neither perception nor non-perception, and the intention to eliminate feelings and characteristics, it is the samadhi of cessation. Thus, for the nine objects of focus, ascend from the first dhyana up to cessation; descend from cessation down to the first dhyana. In this way, going along and against the order, going and coming, demonstrates the two kinds of lion's leaps. Furthermore, entering into the special samadhi between the first dhyana and so on, gradually up to cessation, and after that, from the first dhyana up to cessation, alternately entering into each samadhi of cessation. Also, after entering the samadhi of cessation, rising from it, abandoning the single cessation, immediately enter the realm of neither perception nor non-perception. After rising from that, place the consciousness that operates in the desire realm in the gap of non-equal abiding, and with skillful means, enter cessation from there. After rising from that, enter non-equal abiding. After abandoning the two from there, enter the realm of nothingness. After rising from that, enter non-equal abiding. Similarly, for the realm of infinite consciousness and so on, in the manner of descending, vigorously increase non-equal abiding, abandoning three, four, five, six, seven, eight, and enter the first dhyana. After rising from that, abide in non-equal abiding. In this way, walking in different ways is the samadhi of transcendence. So, what is the conceptual thought to be abandoned by the path of meditation? It is the first of the four conceptual thoughts that are not in accordance with it, namely, the conceptual thought of grasping. The verse says: "Brief, vast, and by the Buddha, shown as ungrasped, without merit in the three times, the good path has three aspects, this one conceptual thought of grasping, is the object of practice of application." This means that because one does not understand the meaning of the scriptures, suchness, etc., one makes the Dharma brief; because one does not understand the self-nature, one makes the Dharma vast; because one is not diligent in the meaning as spoken, the Buddha shows it as ungrasped. And, the merits of the path of non-retrogression and other applications.

Because there are no merits of the past due to the absence of the characteristic of accomplishment in the Prajnaparamita, and no merits of the path of seeing, therefore there are no merits of the present; and because of the characteristic of truly meditating on the Prajnaparamita, there are no merits of the path of meditation, therefore there are no merits of the future; and because of the reversal of pacification, etc., the path that connects to liberation from suffering is a good path; and because merely manifesting and realizing emptiness is a good path for seeing suchness; and because merely familiarizing oneself with selflessness is not knowing the good path of truly meditating. Thus, the first of the apprehended conceptualizations is the object of the stage of application of the path of meditation, and there are nine aspects. After that, the second of the apprehended conceptualizations is taught: "The second, mind and mental factors, are considered to be the objects of entry. Non-arising mind and bodhicitta, non-attention and Hinayana intention, perfect bodhi non-attention, meditation and non-meditation, and their opposites, as well as unreal conceptualizations, should be known on the path of meditation." That is how it is. Because of being separated from virtuous friends, etc., bodhicitta does not arise; and because there is no particularly excellent merit that is in accordance with the Buddha, bodhicitta is not attended to; and because of fearing samsara and not considering the benefit of others, the Hinayana is attended to; and because there is no manifestation of realizing the Prajnaparamita, perfect bodhi is not attended to; and because one desires to attain omniscience by meditating on the Prajnaparamita, it is meditation; and because one desires to attain it without meditating on it, it is non-meditation; and because one desires to attain it through both meditation and non-meditation, it is both; and because one desires to attain it neither through meditation nor through non-meditation, it is neither; and because of entering into reversal, one grasps the meaning that is not as it is. Thus, the second of the apprehended conceptualizations is the object of the stage of entry of the mind and mental factors of the path of meditation, and there are nine aspects. After that, the first of the apprehending conceptualizations is taught.
