For the two situations, in order, as an antidote to impurity such as hunger and thirst, giving abundant food and drink, etc., and following up with aspirations such as closeness to the gods; as an antidote to impurity such as dangerous valleys and cliffs, giving palaces, etc., and following up with aspirations to manifest achievements in golden lands, etc. In this way, the pure Buddha-field is completely cultivated. In order to completely purify one's own Buddha-field, one must follow and accomplish the deeds of the Buddha as appropriate, and for this reason, skillful means are taught: "This is the realm and the one with union, surpassing all enemies, not abiding as it is, power and, uncommon characteristics, non-attachment and non-object, sign and aspiration exhausted, its sign and signless, skillful means are ten kinds." This means that by diligently practicing the cause of completely transcending the Dharma of obstacles, one transcends the Maras such as gods; by meditating on the equality of all Dharmas, even if one realizes emptiness, it is not manifested, hence it is non-abiding; through the accomplishment of aspiration, all deeds of benefiting others are propelled by the power of the past; through extreme familiarity with all ascetic practices, one cultivates uncommon Dharmas such as liberation; with pure white Dharma, one enters liberation, etc., but is not attached to Nirvana; in order to eliminate the object-thought of sentient beings, one is without object through the gate of liberation, emptiness; in order to eliminate the sign-thought of sentient beings, one is without sign through the gate of liberation, signlessness; in order to eliminate the aspiration-thought of sentient beings, one is without aspiration through the gate of liberation, aspirationlessness; by raising questions in advance, one truly proclaims the Dharma of non-retrogression, hence it is the sign of non-retrogression; by knowing all immeasurable realms, it is immeasurable. To manifest the ten realms of the Prajnaparamita, knowing the union of time and non-time is the ten kinds of skillful means.

In the commentary on the Abhisamayalankara, a treatise on the essential instructions of the Perfection of Wisdom, called "Garland of Lights of Wisdom," the explanation of the fourth chapter. Chapter Five: Explanation of the Peak Realization. Now, intending to explain the peak realization, which is the most complete of all aspects of realization, first, the peak of the heat stage, which is in accordance with the aspects of ascertainment, is explained. The verse says: "In dreams, all phenomena, Seeing them as dreams, and so on, Are signs of practice gone to the peak, Considered as twelve aspects." Because of extreme familiarity, even in the state of dreaming, seeing all phenomena as being like dreams, and so on; not generating a mind of joy towards existence itself and towards the Hearers, and so on; focusing on the emanation of oneself as the magical form of the Thus-Gone One; likewise, closely seeing the Buddhas and so on teaching the Dharma; not being afraid when many aspects such as lightness arise, and when awake, believing that all phenomena are like dreams; remembering, with the prior vision of beings in hell and so on, to abandon the bad migrations in one's own Buddha-field; and in dreams or non-dreams, accomplishing the blessing of truth that completely pacifies fires in cities and so on; and accomplishing the word of truth that completely eliminates those possessed by spirits and so on; Apart from dreams, relying on a virtuous friend who overcomes others with one's own clairvoyance; and because of wanting to completely perfect all roots of virtue, studying the Perfection of Wisdom in all aspects; and with the very nature of wisdom without attachment, seeing all defiled and purified phenomena as true; and approaching the enlightenment of the Buddhas by practicing the Perfection of Wisdom in a way that does not engage with forms and so on. These twelve aspects are the characteristics and distinguishing marks of having attained the peak realization of the heat stage. Because of the arising of increase from having attained these marks, the increase that is the characteristic of having become the peak is explained: Like the people of Jambudvipa.
